Precinct Inspectors Needed

If you have ever wondered how to become more active in government, there are plenty of opportunities for you that do not involve running for elected office. The City of Alma is looking for interested people to become precinct inspectors.

Precinct inspectors are people who are paid to assist voters at the polls on Election Day. Registered voters interested in serving as precinct inspectors need to submit a precinct inspector application to the City Clerk's office. In addition to their name, address and date of birth, applicants must include their political party preference and qualifications to fill the position such as education or experience.  Computer experience is required.  A precinct inspector must be a registered voter of the State. They cannot be a challenger, candidate, member of a candidate's immediate family, or a member of the local Board of Canvassers. Anyone convicted of a felony or an election crime may not serve.

If you are interested in serving, please feel free to download and complete the application and return it to Barb Gager, City Clerk at City Hall.  If you have any questions, please phone 989-463-8336 or email  bgager@ci.alma.mi.us.

Water Conservation Tips
  • If your shower fills a one-gallon bucket in less than 20 seconds, replace the showerhead with a WaterSense® labeled model.
  • Shorten your shower by a minute or two and you'll save up to 150 gallons per month.
  • Time your shower to keep it under 5 minutes. You'll save up to 1,000 gallons per month.
  • Toilet leaks can be silent! Be sure to test your toilet for leaks at least once a year.
  • Put food coloring in your toilet tank. If it seeps into the bowl without flushing, there's a leak. Fix it and start saving gallons.
  • When running a bath, plug the bathtub before turning on the water. Adjust the temperature as the tub fills.
