Pine Ave. Traffic Study
The City of Alma and the Alma Public Schools are investigating traffic safety issues along Pine Avenue. A traffic safety expert has been engaged to evaluate pedestrian, bicycle and vehicle safety within the Pine Avenue corridor. An important element of the evaluation are focus group meetings with stakeholders to identify areas of community concern relating to the safety and convenience of all travelers.
A series of focus group meetings are being held to collect community input into the traffic safety study and to provide a means of engaging citizens in developing solutions to issues they feel are important to addressing traffic and pedestrian safety along the Pine Avenue corridor. Meeting dates are as follows:

Yard Waste Program Begins
Now don't laugh, but at some point, hopefully, we'll be able to start our yard waste program. Anticipated start date will be April 7, 2014 (yes, we did say 2014).
Yard waste will be collected on your regular trash collection day and must be in paper bags, cardboard boxes and/or trash containers marked "yard waste". Tree limbs should be placed in piles, not bundled, with all stems lying in the same direction. To get the complete info on the yard waste program, follow this link.

Water Conservation Tips
Follow the tips below for saving water indoors:
Bathroom
Bathroom use accounts for about 75 percent of the water used inside the home.
- Check regularly for any leaks in your toilet, faucets and water hose bibs and fix them. Water saved: up to 200 gallons per day.
- Install a low-flow showerhead. Water saved: about 2 gallons per minute.
- Replace older, larger-use toilets with the newer higher efficiency toilets. Water saved: .5 to 5 gallons per flush.
- Take short showers and save the baths for special occasions. Water saved: 2 to 5 gallons per minute.

Sláinte!
May those that love us, love us.
And those that don't love us,
May God turn their hearts.
And if he doesn't turn their hearts,
May he turn their ankles,
So we'll know them by their limping.
