Important Compliance Requirement: All Dentists Must Register with Colorado's PDMP by Oct. 31   

A recently passed bill, HB14-1283, requires all dentists with a DEA registration to register with Colorado's Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) by Oct. 31.  Click here to read more.

Rulemaking Update: CE Requirements  
The rulemaking process for the implementation of the 2014 Dental Sunset Review Bill has just begun. A common area of interest related to the Sunset Review Bill is the new continuing education (CE) requirement for dentists and dental hygienists.  Click here to read more.
 
DEA Tightens Rules on Hydrocodone 
The DEA recently published a final rule putting additional restrictions on hydrocodone-containing drug products, moving them from Schedule III to Schedule II of the federal Controlled Substances Act. The ADA joined several other health organizations in expressing concern over the move.  Click here to read more

Medicaid Update for Providers 
In an effort to keep members informed, the CDA will be helping to distribute information from DentaQuest, the administrator of the Colorado Medicaid Dental Program.  During this transition to provide dental services to adults through Medicaid, several modifications have been needed to ensure success. Drugs
New Opioid Prescribing Policy for Colorado Dentists 
In July, the State Board of Dentistry adopted a new policy aimed at reducing prescription drug abuse by better managing opioid prescribing. In short, the policy states that providers prescribing and/or dispensing opioids should follow certain protocols.  Click here to read more.
 
Improvements to CHP+   
As of July 1, the CHP+ dental program was expanded with the annual max increasing from $600 to $1,000 for covered children, and new periodontic, prosthodontic and orthodontic codes were added.  Click here to learn more.  
 
Save the Date: Event Honoring Cong. Cory Gardner    
Colorado dentists will be hosting a fundraising event on Oct. 24, 2014 from 4:00-5:30 p.m. for Congressman Cory Gardner, the Republican candidate who is seeking the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Sen. Mark Udall.  Click here to learn more.  
 
In Memoriam   
This past month, the CDA has lost two of its members.
Dr. Roberta Shaklee passed away on Aug. 29, 2014 after battling ovarian cancer for over two years.
Dr. Jean-Fran�ois B�dard passed away suddenly on Sept. 8, 2014.

February 20, 2015: CDA Lobby Day - Dentists at the Capitol
