Tony Grider, one of the Kentucky firefighters injured last month during an ice bucket challenge gone wrong, has died.
The 16-year veteran of the Campbellsville Fire Department was among four firefighters who sustained injuries from electric shock after a fire truck they were on came too close to a power line.
Grider and three other firefighters were injured when the fire truck they were on came too close to overhead power lines.
The Campbellsville Fire and Rescue Department had been assisting students in Campbellsville University's marching band with an ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. The electric shock occurred after many of the students had already left and no students were injured in the accident.
Grider sustained third degree burns over 55% of his body in the accident. Two other firefighters injured, Capt. Steve Marrs, 37, and firefighter Alex Johnson, 28, were treated and released the day of the accident, while Simon A. Quinn, 22, who also sustained serious injuries, was released from the hospital Sept. 15.
