FIA is pleased to welcome Rath, Inc. (www.rath-usa.com) as a new forging supplier member to our Association. Located in Newark, Delaware, Rath provides refractories, fiber and high temperature fiber modules to the industry.  To contact Rath, Inc. directly, please call (302) 294-4446.

Four new directors have been elected to the Forging Industry Association's (FIA) Board of Directors for three-year terms. They are:

 

 

Karen Hannum, VP of Industrial, TimkenSteel Crop., Canton, OH                      

Jeffrey Jones, VP, Forge Resources Group, De Kalb, IL                                                                            

Michael Kinney, Director of Manufacturing, ALCOA Forged and Cast Products, Cleveland, OH          

Michael Wozniak, President & COO, Commercial Forged Products, a Div. of Wozniak Ind., Oakbrook Terrace, IL

                                              

Kenneth Mathas, President, Cornell Forge Company, Chicago, IL, was elected Association Chairman.

William M. Hoban, President, Cleveland Hardware & Forging Company, Green Bay, WI, was elected as Vice Chairman for the coming year.

 

Glenn Fegely., President, Ellwood National Forge, Irvine, PA, and Ron Hahn, VP & COO, Scot Forge, Spring Grove, IL, were elected to the FIA Executive Committee to serve with Mr. Mathas and Mr Hoban.


 

 

 

Four trustees have been elected to Forging Industry Educational and Research Foundation's (FIERF) Board of Trustees for three-year terms.  They are: 

 

William Edwards, Manager Metallurgy, Ellwood City Forge-Forging Div., Ellwood City, PA

John Pale, Senior Manager Manufacturing Engineer, American Axle & Mfg. Inc., Detroit, MI

Kyle Rackers, Process Engineer, Scot Forge, Spring Grove, IL

Suzanne Tkach, Owner, Tkach Consulting LLC, Columbus, OH

 

 

Algirdas Underys, Technical Director, Finkl Steel, Chicago, IL, was elected to a one year term as President of the Foundation. 

 

Paul Dennis, CFO, Weber Metals, Paramount, CA, was elected as Vice President for the coming year.

 

Rick Recktenwald, President, Walker Forge Inc. - Clintonville Plant, Clintonville, WI, and Paul Janicke, VP of Operations, McInnes Rolled Rings, Erie, PA, to serve on the FIERF Executive Committee with Mr. Underys and Mr. Dennis.

 

 

 

 

 

TenQuench Probe Research and Design Completed

The Penn State Behrend senior design team of Nathan Junk, Andrew Mansuetti and Ryan Sybo have completed their project and the final report is available to all FIA Members.  Sponsored by Forging Industry Educational and Research Foundation (FIERF), the capstone project's objective was to design a probe for mapping the heat transfer characteristics of an empty, agitated quench tank.


 

The students visited both McInnes Rolled Rings and Corry Forge to learn more about the industry and quench tanks.

Three new FIERF Anvil Society Members were recognized during the recent FIA Annual Meeting of Members in Tucson.  Thank you to Pete Campbell, Campbell Press Repair (Bronze Anvil), Bill Hoban, Cleveland Hardware & Forging Co. (Silver Anvil), and Suzanne Tkach, Tkach Consulting (Bronze Anvil) for the your support of the programs and activities of FIERF!


 

Thank you to all corporate and individual contributors - it is because of you that students receive scholarships, teachers have forging process information to use in classes and university students are working on forging specific project.

One50 Years of FIA Membership

 

FIA Chairman Arnold Visser acknowledged two milestone membership events at the Annual Meeting of Members by presenting plaques commemorating 50 years of continual FIA Membership to Consolidated Industries and The Queen City Forging Co. Congratulations!
