Hello everyone,
Did you know that 70,000 puppies and kittens are born each day in the U.S. and that 50% of these are accidents that could be prevented by early age spay/neuter? Confusion about the appropriate age to fix our pets leads to "oops litters" preventable by sterilizing our pets before they reach sexual maturity (usually between 4 to 6 months of age). Early age spay/neuter is an easier, faster and less stressful surgery for your pet than waiting until he/she is older and can have a great impact on reducing the number of homeless pets in our community,
This got me thinking, what would it mean locally if we could prevent 50% of the "oops litters," how many fewer kittens and puppies would enter our shelters, how many less would be put down? And how could we help? So, in honor of the 19th Annual Spay Day, the Clinic is offering $40 spay/neuter surgeries during the last week of February for kittens/puppies aged four months or younger. Interested pet owners should call soon as space for these appointments is limited. Be sure to check out (and share) the adorable Fix At Four campaign materials and PSA videos | Best Friends "Fix at Four" Infographic |
by national organization Best Friends Animal Society included in this email. A great (and humorous) way to educate ourselves and others on the appropriate age to spay/neuter.
CSNC's low cost vaccine clinic (held the last Friday of each month) is coming up this Friday, February 22nd, more information in the article below.
Enjoy this newsletter and please send a reply with any questions. Hoping you and your pets have a very happy Love Your Pet Day (this Wednesday, February 20th)! We thank you so much for your continued support. Sincerely, Pallas DiazExecutive Director

World Spay Day
February is Spay/Neuter Awareness Month
|
|

World Spay Day takes place February 26. 2013 and is truly a global effort: Hundreds of animal welfare organizations, veterinary clinics, schools, businesses, and individuals in the U.S. and around the world organize World Spay Day events to educate people in their communities about the life-saving importance of spay/neuter, to provide spay/neuter services at special prices for particular populations, and to raise critical spay/neuter funds.
This is the time, if you have not done so already, to schedule surgery for your pet(s). It's the right thing to do for them and for your community.
World Spay Day is a day to shine a spotlight on spay/neuter as a proven means of saving the lives of companion animals, feral cats, and street dogs who might otherwise be put down in a shelter or killed on the street.
Spay/Neuter Saves Lives
Spay/neuter is a permanent, 100-percent effective method of birth control for cats and dogs. When we spay or neuter pets, feral cats, and other street animals, we ensure those animals and their offspring will not add to the millions of already suffering animals.
