DR LEWIS AND MOM

Celebrating the life of 
Mother Martha Amos. 
September 8, 1935-June 29, 2016

Without her, there would not be a Dr. Tonya Lewis.

Without Dr. Tonya Lewis, there would not be the ministerial experience of Dr. Lewis as it means to you.  

We salute Dr. Lewis' mother! We thank God for her. 

We celebrate the awesome love and care given her mother by her father, Deacon Dallas Amos.

Let's continue to hold the family in our hearts and prayers.

People who choose not to submit their lives to the Lord Jesus and allow God to lead them, truly don't know what they are missing.  

It is such a comfort to be assured of the faithful, loving care of the very God who created the world.

Such a relief to not have to have one's life figured out, but just to follow the blueprint the Lord has outlined for our individual lives.  

We can rejoice that our God never sleeps nor slumbers. Also, that He will never leave nor forsake us.  

We are blessed beyond measure because any situation we feel that we cannot handle, if the Lord allows it to come our way, we find that Daddy-God also provides the strength needed to go THRU IT.

Reflecting personally, I remember from a very young age on through young adulthood of not being able to discuss the subject of death with my mother. 

I would become very emotional as she would try to prepare me for what was the inevitable, the reality that she might transition before me.  

I shared that experience to reflect of the mighty grace and strength which the Lord provides for us to endure WHATEVER WE ENCOUNTER in life.

I am currently experiencing what I, all my life, just knew I would not be able to bear.  

But, the weight, sorrow and unbearable experience of my beloved mother's transition is being carried by the Holy Ghost. 

This is to enable me to yet be a TRUE Kingdom example and display the loving faithfulness of God, that He is the great Sustainer and Comforter.  

He has encouraged my family and I to focus on the unlimited blessings surrounding the transition of my mother.

Among those unlimited and amazing blessings are: 

      1) He kept our immediate family circle together for nearly sixty years prior to allowing us to directly 

        experience the transition of an immediate family member. 

      2) We celebrate the fact that my mother is no longer suffering or held captive by medical 

        appointments and ailments. 

      3) She was saved and had her eternal destination already purchased by the blood of Jesus.

         4) Because of the excellent and attentive care which my father provided for my mom, she desired to

          transition prior to my father, not desiring to face her medical struggles without him. God               answered her prayer. 

         5) Throughout our lives, we created wonderful family memories which will live forever in our hearts. 

         6) She left an honorable legacy which we can be godly proud of her life.   

           The list goes on and on. 

But the key of being able to survive and overcome ANY SITUATION we face in life is to recognize the

           powerful presence and faithfulness of our Heavenly Father.

Because I was assured from previous experiences with the Lord that He would do what whatever was

    needed, my prayer was not selfish to keep my mom here to continue to suffer. 

It was not to heal her, for I recognize that an eighty-year-old person would not recuperate as a 

    20-year-old woman and neither would she live another 60 years.  

Therefore, I wanted the perfect plan of the Lord to be manifested in her life as well as in my life.

I was assured that if the Lord allowed her to pass that He would comfort my family and I as needed. 

I must mention how the Lord led me to travel home to visit my mother at a time TOTALLY outside of my plan to travel later in the year. 

However, I submitted to the Lord and was able to spend eleven days with her, not knowing that eleven days later, she would pass.  

Then, the cherry on top of my blessing which again, I did not plan, but the loving plan of our Great God, 

      He allowed me to spend my first and last birthday with my mom during her lifetime. 

It had been around twenty years since we had been together on my birthday.

The VERY LAST WORDS we exchanged were "I Love You".  

So, because of the blessings of God in the midst of my mother passing, my family and I are comforted by the Faithful Lord God.  

So, when you encounter difficult situations, instead of stressing out and feeling alone, began to praise God in the situation.  

Praise Jesus

Begin to celebrate His Faithful love for you! 

Begin to talk to yourself and tell yourself that you will rest in the loving and caring arms of our Great God. 

NO, NO, NO! It does not mean that you won't cry, but that you won't cry without hope and comfort.  

Then, eventually, you will encourage yourself in the Lord. Know that God is for you! 

Know that He is FAITHFUL! 

Know that He is concerned about ANYTHING which concerns you! 

Also, that He will NEVER, NEVER let you walk through ANYTHING alone.  

Keep your eyes on the Lord!!!
