Unsaved, unrepentant, prideful and arrogant family, friends, and even ourselves, describes us all!
As we have persons, which we are praying for, we were and yet are on the prayer list of others.
It is definitely a difference in what one can see with clear vision and what is hidden from one with blurred vision which the aforementioned adjectives describes.
Unfortunately, from time to time, throughout life, each of us suffers from stubbornness and the drive to dictate our own decisions and actions in spite of being advised differently.
It saddens our hearts to see loved ones experience consequences that we attempt to prevent them from experiencing.
Unfortunately, most of the time we don't learn that we should have listened to wise counsel until we suffer such consequences.

Jesus gives an illustration of this in the parable of the Prodigal Son.
He made decisions of asking his father for his inheritance, even while his father yet lived.
In addition, he made the decision to leave home and go to a far country without a valid reason or plan.
While there is no narration of anyone trying to persuade this son from such unwise decisions, one
has to believe that the love of his father and other family and friends tried to reason with him.
However, as characteristic as we are, he did not listen or take heed.
He did not see clearly, until he experienced in a far country: 1- Being away from love and family,
2- Spending all he had and being deserted by those who helped him to spend it all.
3-Experiencing a famine without help from anyone,
4- Stooping to his lowest self as a Jew of being around swine, which was definitely not allowed,
5- Feeding and desiring even to eat their food.
|
It was only then that the son experienced
Luke 15:17-NLT-"When he finally came to his senses, (KJ- came to himself), he said to himself, 'At
home even the hired servants have food enough to spare, and here I am dying of hunger!
18- I will go home to my father and say, "Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you,
19- and I am no longer worthy of being called your son. Please take me on as a hired servant."'
In attempts to shield loved ones from experiencing the consequences of their/our unwise decisions,
they/we are hindered and delayed from their/our Luke experiences. Our lives change only when they/we develop humble hearts and receptive spirits.
Lessons cannot be prevented that will only be learned when they/we come to themselves/ourselves, which will be advantageous for the rest of their lives.
|
Prayerfully others/our attitudes will be as the father's was of still owning relationship with us/them.
V 24- NIV-For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' So they began to celebrate.
In spite of the father being greatly hurt and offended by his son, his reference is yet, this son of mine.
He yet owned the relationship and association with him.
His father was saying, Yes he disappointed me, but he is still my son.
Yes, he acted as though I was dead, but he is still my son.
Yes, he brought shame on the family, but he is still my son.
Yes, true, he has not been here to attend to his fair share of overseeing my affairs and responsibilities
that he will benefit from when I die, but he is still my son.
Yes, he has made many unwise decisions, but he is still my son.

This parable illustrates God's great love, patience and reception of us after we come to ourselves and come to Him for mercy and grace.
Thank you Lord that You yet desire fellowship with us, even after we turn our backs on You.
We must be willing to treat others, as we desire for God and others to treat us.
Luke 6:31- NLT-Do to others as you would like them to do to you.
We must be patient, loving, merciful, gracious, and forgiving.
In addition, we must encourage them to continue in their wise decisions by celebrating their turn-arounds.
Above all else, we must remember
John 8:7- NIV-When they kept on questioning Him, He (Jesus) straightened up and said to them,
"Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her."
As long as we live, each of us will from time to time need mercy and grace.
God bless you.

Acceptance and tolerance and forgiveness, those are life-altering lessons. Jessica Lange
One of the secrets of a long and fruitful life is to forgive everybody everything everynight before you go to bed. Bernard Baruch
Forgiveness is the economy of the heart... forgiveness saves the expense of anger, the cost of hatred, the waste of spirits. Hannah More
Let us not listen to those who think we ought to be angry with our enemies, and who believe this to be great and manly. Nothing is so praiseworthy, nothing so clearly shows a great and noble soul, as clemency and readiness to forgive. Marcus Tullius Cicero
To err is human; to forgive, divine. Alexander Pope
Inner peace can be reached only when we practice forgiveness. Forgiveness is letting go of the past, and is therefore the means for correcting our misperceptions.
Gerald Jampolsky
How does one know if she has forgiven? You tend to feel sorrow over the circumstance instead of rage, you tend to feel sorry for the person rather than angry with him. You tend to have nothing left to say about it all. Clarissa Pinkola Estes
"Look for the person everyone hates, and love them." Criss Jami, Healology
The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong. Mahatma Gandhi
Mistakes are always forgivable, if one has the courage to admit them. Bruce Lee

Forgiveness is not always easy. At times, it feels more painful than the wound we suffered, to forgive the one that inflicted it. And yet, there is no peace without forgiveness.
Marianne Williamson
We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Never forget the three powerful resources you always have available to you: love, prayer, and forgiveness. H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
A blessed thing it is for any man or woman to have a friend, one human soul whom we can trust utterly, who knows the best and worst of us, and who loves us in spite of all our faults. Charles Kingsley
"Resentment is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die. " Carrie Fisher

WORDS FROM THE HEART!

Hey Dr. Lewis: Thank you for the wonderful words of faith and truth for this week. We need to remember we are just dust and it is not about us!!! What if the Lord had left us in the shape we were in before He saved us? I for one know I would not be here right now. But, because He cared, I am here and able to give Him praise and help my brothers and sisters and love them with the love of the Lord. Thank God! I think we would be very lonely people if it was just us. And the Bible says for God so loved the world He gave His only begotten Son! Love you lot's! Evangelist V L
Subject: Re: Forget That Man and Others! Nice Article. This is funny because I spoke about a similar subject matter in class last night....along with a few other topic matters concerning the philosophies and traditions of man being taught in the churches of today as oppose to the Word of God...nice job. Also I watched a movie this weekend for the first time and I jumped out my chair when I saw you in the movie.
