WHO DO YOU NEED TO FORGIVE?   (1 of 5)

Jesus left the glorious presence of His beloved Father, Heaven and the fellowship of the saints to come to SINFUL earth.

He came on assignment with a mission from the Father to bridge the gap between sinful man and His Heavenly Father.

Bridge the gap so that one day we who would accept Jesus' salvation will spend eternity in the holy and joyous environment, which Jesus left for at least 33 years.

Jesus on the Cross Thank you Jesus

Jesus understood that His earthly "Mission of Love" included Him suffering, being abused and scorned and eventually being crucified at the hands of those whom He came to save.

He told His disciples in Mark 10:45-"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

The first of Jesus' last seven sayings is found in Luke 23:34 -KJ--Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. ..

It is believed that these words were probably uttered at the terrible moment when Jesus was outstretched upon the Cross and the nails were being driven through His hands and feet.

In spite of Jesus' Father giving His only Beloved Son this "Mission of Crucifixion",

in spite of all that Jesus had experienced: rejection, beaten and scorned at the hands of those whom His "Mission of Crucifixion" would bless:

Jesus' first saying displays His heart and attitude toward His Father and humanity.

Jesus did not say Almighty God, or Lord of Hosts, but Father.

God and Heaven

Jesus referring to God as Father displayed a personal, tender and intimate relationship.

Jesus' completion of His Mission of Crucifixion would enable us to share a personal and intimate

relationship with His Father as in Matthew 6:9 "Our Father..."which art in Heaven.

Referring to God as Father displayed Jesus choosing to focus on His Father's love, and faithfulness rather

than what He was going through on His way to accomplish what He was sent to do.

We too must keep our focus on God's love to fulfill the mission of our lives amid our many trials and tribulations.

Jesus' love for us in spite of our actions was demonstrated as He took the time out from suffering

to intercede for His Offenders both then and for us offenders who were yet to come.

In this first saying---we get a glimpse of Jesus as our Mediator and Great Intercessor.

Rom. 8:34- NIV ... at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.

Praise Jesus

Jesus said, Father forgive them, meaning to release them and us from the guilt of their and our sin; to

release them and us from the legal or moral obligation or consequence of our sins; to cancel and

pardon the debt of sin, because YES-we were and are guilty; to write off our debt-not because we

don't owe it, because we can't pay the bill anyway.

Jesus knew by Him being crucified on the cross would pay the ransom for the forgiveness of our sin.

It would also free God's hands to forgive the sin of men.Jesus was boldly able to ask His Father to forgive them, because He had forgiven them.

WHO DO YOU NEED TO FORGIVE?

Jesus said in Matthew 5:43-"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.'

V 44-But I-Jesus say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!

No, it is not possible to easily love and overlook the behavior of someone who abuse and hurt us.

unforgiveness

However, as Christians, we are called and commanded to a higher standard of living than those who do not have the nature of Christ.

Therefore, Jesus is challenging us to follow in His footsteps and do good and even pray for those who do evil to us.

So since Jesus forgave, it dictates that we must have a forgiving heart---no matter the offense!

We must embrace the prayer of intercession for one another and not the prayer of destruction.

For those who offend, abuse and physically threaten to take our lives, we must yet forgive and love them.

As the good Samaritan, we must be willing to help them as much as we can.

We definitely must desire and pray for a turn-around in their lives so that their eternal future will be secured with the Lord.

walking with Jesus

We must walk in the footprints of Jesus and follow His example of love.

We must yield ourselves to Him so that the world will see the Father's love through our lives.

In the midst of our suffering and going through, we must maintain our Kingdom demeanor, our Kingdom

sophistication, for we have the Lord of lords to glorify.

So, the question is:

Who do you need to forgive?

Who do you need to extend love and kindness?

Who needs to experience Jesus' love and forgiveness demonstrated through your life?

God bless you.

The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong. Mahatma Gandhi

Did I offer peace today? Did I bring a smile to someone's face? Did I say words of healing? Did I let go of my anger and resentment? Did I forgive? Did I love? These are the real questions. I must trust that the little bit of love that I sow now will bear many fruits, here in this world and the life to come. Henri Nouwen

We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Forgive your enemies, but never forget their names. John F. Kennedy

Flatter me, and I may not believe you. Criticize me, and I may not like you. Ignore me, and I may not forgive you. Encourage me, and I will not forget you. Love me and I may be forced to love you. William Arthur Ward

Many times, the decisions we make affect and hurt your closest friends and family the most. I have a lot of regrets in that regard. But God has forgiven me, which I am very thankful for. It has enabled me to forgive myself and move forward one day at a time. Lex Luger

It takes one person to forgive, it takes two people to be reunited. Lewis B. Smedes

Two persons cannot long be friends if they cannot forgive each other's little failings. Jean de la Bruyere

The ability to forgive is one of man's greatest achievements. Bryant H. McGill

If I say, 'I forgive you,' I have implicitly said you have done something wrong to me. But what forgiveness is at its heart is both saying that justice has been violated and not letting that violation count against the offender. Miroslav Volf

He that cannot forgive others, breaks the bridge over which he himself must pass if he would ever reach heaven; for everyone has need to be forgiven. George Herbert

It's one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself, to forgive. Forgive everybody. Maya Angelou

To err is human; to forgive, divine. Alexander Pope

The Christian life is not a constant high. I have my moments of deep discouragement. I have to go to God in prayer with tears in my eyes, and say, 'O God, forgive me,' or 'Help me.' Billy Graham

To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you. Lewis B. Smedes

WORDS FROM THE HEART!!!

Hey Dr. Lewis: Thanks for the words of wisdom and faith for this week.  So true, It is something how we would jump the gun and say we are grown and nobody tells us what to do!   There is always someone who will tell you what to do, but of course we need to listen to the Lord's voice and see what He is telling us to do. He tells us the truth about ourselves and knows what is best for us. He is Good and His Mercy endures forever! We have Undeniable Evidence-if-- we are His for sure!  Love you lot's! Evangelist L V

Love my Birthday song. DON'T STOP DOING WHAT YOU ARE DOING FOR GOD'S PEOPLE. LOVE AND PRAYERS, Evangelist A B

Thank you Dr. T. I sure enjoyed this message. It was just what I needed. You were super and looked good. I praise and press to praise God. This took me to a higher depth in God. I was a little sad just got sad news about my brother in ICu stage 4 pancreatic cancer. The doctor told his wife if she hadn't got him to hospital today he wouldn't have made it through the day. I feel so much better even though he is critical. I feel to be still and know God sees. You are a wonderful speaker. Thanks my dear. R S

Thank you for all you have done for me in the name of Jesus. I have told you that you are my beautiful angel - I see your beautiful face and your mind also. Bless you, One Faith, and Overcomers. Take care.   Who loves you? Jesus!!! Me too!  A V

Hey Dr. Lewis: This is so very true. The reality check is something else.  We really need to take heed to what Jesus tells us and know that it is always true.  Thank you for the wonderful words of wisdom. They truly bless my heart. Love you. V L

Thanks Dr. T. So thankful Jesus forgives and helps me through my Reality Checks. I have wallowed in guilt and shame so much I am learning to repent and go on. Again thank you.  S R
