The tendency of our human nature is to do what we want to do, when we want to do it and how we want to do it.  

We secretly or publicly resent and resist anyone or anything trying to exercise their "Authority" and "boss" our lives.

Because of our prideful and destructive nature, even if what we are told makes sense or is the best direction for us to go, we resist someone else giving us direction.   

Unfortunately, we must pass through a series of lessons and hard knocks before we realize that we are never without other people 

                  exercising authority in our lives; our employers, law enforcement, creditors, etc.

As we mature, we learn that we must humble ourselves and submit to the powers, which are, especially when it is obvious that we do not power over them. 

We also come to learn that as we submit ourselves and abide by what is asked or commanded of us, that it works out for our benefit and blessing!

Such is the case in our spiritual experiences. Isaiah 1:19-If you will only obey Me, you will have plenty to eat. KJ-If ye be willing and obedient,.. 

Throughout the Word of God, we are told how we will benefit when we obey the Lord. 

              Jer. 38:20 NLT --Jeremiah replied, "You won't be handed over to them if you choose to obey the LORD. Your life will be spared, and all will go well for you.

Deut. 28: 1-14 list blessings we will experience if we obey the LORD our God. 

Deut. 30:9-NLT-"The LORD your God will then make you successful in everything you do....for the LORD will again delight in being good to you as He was to your ancestors.

Deut. 13:18- NLT- "The LORD your God will be merciful only if you listen to His voice and keep all His commands that I am giving you today, doing what pleases Him. 

We are also forewarned of the consequences if we choose not to obey:

            Deut. 28:15-"But if you refuse to listen to the LORD your God and do not obey all the commands and decrees I am giving you

          today, all these curses will come and overwhelm you, (as described in verses 15-29).

1 Sam 12:15 NLT-But if you rebel against the LORD's commands and refuse to listen to Him, then His hand will be as heavy upon you as it was upon your ancestors. 

Isaiah 1: 20-"But if you turn away and refuse to listen, you will be devoured by the sword of your enemies. I, the LORD, have spoken!"

 In church, it is not the number of times we attend or the positions we hold, nor the amount of money we give, that will make us acceptable in the Lord's eyesight. 

Deut. 30:10-NLT-The LORD your God will delight in you if you obey His voice and keep the commands and decrees written in this Book of 

             Instruction, and if you turn to the LORD your God with all your heart and soul.

We must drop all excuses as to why we can't obey and do what God asks of us. 

       Deut. 30:11-NLT- "This command I am giving you today is not too difficult for you to understand, and it is not beyond your reach.  

                   ISV-Indeed, these commands that I'm giving you today are neither confusing nor unattainable for you.

Then our testimony and plea will be that of Psalm 26:1 Declare me innocent, O LORD, for I have acted with integrity; I have trusted in the LORD without wavering. 

                 2 Put me on trial, LORD, and cross-examine me. Test my motives and my heart. 

                  3 For I am always aware of your unfailing love, and I have lived according to Your truth.  

             11...I live with integrity. So redeem me and show me mercy. 

            12 Now I stand on solid ground, and I will publicly praise the LORD.  It is beneficial to us to obey the heart of God.

{1} Once all villagers decided to pray for rain, on the day of prayer all the people gathered, but only one boy came with an umbrella.
That's FAITH
 
{2} When you throw a baby in the air, she laughs because she knows you will catch her.
That's TRUST
 
{3} Every night we go to bed without any assurance of being alive the next morning but still we set the alarms to wake up. 
That's HOPE
 
{4} We plan
big things for tomorrow in spite of zero knowledge of the future.
That's CONFIDENCE

{6} On an old man's shirt was written a sentence 'I am not 80 years old....I am sweet 16 with 64 years experience.
That's ATTITUDE

Thanks Dr. T. This was just on time for me. My relationship with my daughter V. is much different than my other daughters. We know everyone is not the same. We all know she just like to be left alone a lot. D and V call me 3 to 4 times a day. V 3 or 4 times a month. I know she loves me and I love her. We will bond again tomorrow if it is the Lord's will. I sure enjoyed your newsletter. Please keep us in your prayers. S R
