"How Are Your Relationships?
"

A teacher affects eternity; he/or she can never tell where his or her influence stops.        Henry Adams

"How Are Your Relationships?"  (1 of 5)

The way which two or more people are connected and the way they behave toward each other define relationship.

No individual man or woman is self-sufficient or functions as an island, for God purposefully created humans to co-exist and be dependent on one another.

So therefore, we cannot avoid relationships.

Because people have different experiences, beliefs, convictions and desires, our interactions with some will be different from our relations with others.

Thus, we find that it definitely takes effort to create relationships.

We must be willing to put forth the required efforts to secure the type of relationship desired.

"How Are Your Relationships?"  (2 of 5)

There are times we experience grace, mercy and favor from others, the opposite of what we actually deserve, because we

have not contribute what we could to help build the relationship.

However, relationships are just like anything else, for the most part, we get out of them what we deposit in them.

question puzzling

One might ask what effort is required to have "healthy, happy and fulfilling" relationships, whether it is marital, with family, friends, professional, etc.

The Bible gives us excellent advice:

Eph. 5:21- NLT-...submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

Gal. 5:13- ...instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.

1 Pet. 5:5. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, "God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.

       "How Are Your Relationships?"
(3 of 5)

" The Bible also illustrates how a group of people became strongly united:
Acts 2:42-NLT- All the believers devoted themselves to the Apostles' teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord's Supper), and to prayer.

44-And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had.

laughing-eating-family.jpg

45- They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need.

46- They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord's Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity-

47- all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.

           " How Are Your Relationships? "    (4 of 5)

To build strong, healthy and fulfilling relationships, we learn from these verses we must :

         1) Be humble and submissive to one another. We cannot demand our desires to only be considered, but even the more so, be willing to forego ours for others.

helping one another

         2) Be willing to joyfully and lovingly serve (help and assist others).  Understand there will be times of inconvenience, but remember it is not just about us.

           3) Definitely, seek direction and obey the Word of God in all areas of our lives. Cover our relationships with pray, protection and alertness as Satan will try to destroy them.

          4) Be willing to get together with others to fellowship, eat, laugh and embrace one another.

       " How Are Your Relationships? "   (5 of 5)

Additionally, to build strong, healthy and fulfilling relationships,

           5) We cannot be selfish, but rather, caring and compassionate. Be willing to share our time, resources and render acts of kindness. When able, be willing on occasions to meet their needs.

people in love

          6) Value others as God's beloved children. Respect and cherish them. Love them. Take the time to learn and understand their personality make-up.

When we genuinely love and care for others, we will resist being self-centered, selfish and unkind.

Rather we will do our part to cultivate strong, healthy and fulfilling relationships; for we realize that, we do need others as they also need us.

God bless!

I believe that two people are connected at the heart, and it doesn't matter what you do, or who you are or where you live; there are no boundaries or barriers if two people are destined to be together.  Julia Roberts

We don't develop courage by being happy every day. We develop it by surviving difficult times and challenging adversity.  Barbara de Angelis

The beginning of love is to let those we love be perfectly themselves, and not to twist them to fit our own image. Otherwise, we love only the reflection of ourselves we find in them.   Thomas Merton

Intense love does not measure, it just gives.   Mother Teresa

We are afraid to care too much, for fear that the other person does not care at all.  Eleanor Roosevelt

Find joy in everything you choose to do. Every job, relationship, home... it's your responsibility to love it, or change it. Chuck Palahniuk

Flatter me, and I may not believe you. Criticize me, and I may not like you. Ignore me, and I may not forgive you. Encourage me, and I will not forget you. Love me and I may be forced to love you.  William Arthur Ward

When a woman is talking to you, listen to what she says with her eyes.
Victor Hugo

Some think love can be measured by the amount of butterflies in their tummy. Others think love can be measured in bunches of flowers, or by using the words 'for ever.' But love can only truly be measured by actions. It can be a small thing, such as peeling an orange for a person you love because you know they don't like doing it.Marian Keyes

We've got this gift of love, but love is like a precious plant. You can't just accept it and leave it in the cupboard or just think it's going to get on by itself. You've got to keep watering it. You've got to really look after it and nurture it. John Lennon

If civilization is to survive, we must cultivate the science of human relationships - the ability of all peoples, of all kinds, to live together, in the same world at peace.  Franklin D. Roosevelt

When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.
Maya Angelou

I am convinced that material things can contribute a lot to making one's life pleasant, but, basically, if you do not have very good friends and relatives who matter to you, life will be really empty and sad and material things cease to be important.  David Rockefeller
