"REST AREAS"

"Rest Areas" (1 of 5)

                 


 

In sports and other events, there are time frames which team members are expected to be in the game both mentally and physically. 


 

They are expected to join their skills with other team members to help win the victory. 


 

As Christians, we are on Team Jesus and the gates of hell and team Satan are opposing us.

Thus, as Christians, we expect to be opposed by Team Satan. 

 

We are to know that they are planning to overtake us and win the victory over the Kingdom of God. 

 

However, we can rejoice and be thankful that Jesus understands our humanness, our abilities and limitations.  

 

Jesus realizes that we have not yet been changed from mortal to immortality. (1 Cor. 15:53-KJ) 

 

Jesus knows how much opposition we can bear in a particular situation! He knows what will send us over the edge.  

 

 

 
 
 
 
              

"Rest Areas"  (2 of 5)

Jesus knows that there will be times we will cry, whine and complain, even though as we mature in the Lord, those times should become less and less.  

 

Jesus knows that there are times we need a break, to be able to pull off the "Highway of Life" and to regroup emotionally, spiritually and definitely physically.

He knows there are times we need to have the bell rung to end that particular round with our enemies, allowing us a time of refreshment and instruction. 

 

Even Jesus said to His disciples in Mark 6:31- NLT-... "Let's go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile." 

 

He said this because there were so many people coming and going that Jesus and His apostles didn't even have time to eat. 

 

32- They went away in the boat to a secluded place by themselves.... 

 

Matthew 14:13-When Jesus heard what had happened, He withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place.

In the natural sense, there are "Rest Areas" up and down highways. "Rest Areas" are not geared for travelers to permanently move in.

 

They are designed to provide temporary places where weary and worn travelers may pull over for rest and refreshment. 

 

If travelers are wise, prior to becoming so overwhelmed with exhaustion, they will pull over so that others or they will not be injured by their fatigue.

The same is the case in our spiritual journey.  

 

Jesus provides "Spiritual Rest Areas" so that we may pull over out of the flow of life's travel and to be revived.  

 

There does come the time when the bell will ring for us to get back in the game and on the "Highway of Life" and to continue our journey. 

 

We can't just remain in "Rest Areas" and not get back in the game.

Thank you Lord that You provide "Rest Areas" through wholesome Kingdom relationships, worship services, vacations, our alone times, even hospitalizations and lay-offs.

 

"Rest Areas" are any places that allow us to step out of the norm and to be renewed in our minds, hearts and spirits.   

 

Follow Jesus


 

Thank you Lord that you teach us to embrace even those seasons when we do travel alone, for even during those times You are ministering what we need.  

 

Thank you Lord that while You do expect us to continuously grow and mature in our Christian journey, You don't expect more from us than we can give You.  

 

Thank you Lord that what we need and when we need it, You provide it for us.

Thank you Lord for teaching us to trust you, even when we don't understand what is going on in our lives.  

 

Thank you Lord for the rest which You provide through your love, patience and compassion.

Saints, let's not allow pride to keep us on the highway of life when we need to pull over and be refreshed.  

 

Jesus does not get any glory out of us wrecking our vessels, losing our minds, making  U-Turns and going back into unhealthy situations.  

 

Therefore, give yourself a break and submit to the Spirit of God when He motions for you to pull off the Highway of Life into His "Rest Areas. 

 

No matter what, or where we are, let's live so that Daddy-God will be glorified through our actions.  God bless you!

Hey Dr. Lewis:

I thank you for the wonderful words of wisdom for this week. I know who I want to be known as~  I did not know that people watch you so closely. But a few years back I was not feeling well and I had a frown on my face and a woman was very upset to see me that way. She said to me it this is happening to you what is going to happen to me?  Well it threw me for a loop, and I knew right then I had to get it together cause people were looking at me and I did not know it.  That is the short version.  Thanks again and we are still praying for mom and dad .love you lot's!  L V
