How to Abide In A "Blessed State" (1 of 5)
If we really want to obtain information or how to gain the advantage of a certain benefit, we investigate and find out.
We don't stop at our first obstacle or discomfort, but we press on until we have achieved our desired goal.
If we really want to be blessed and receive Daddy God's Stamp of Approval; we must be driven with persistence and undying commitment to not stop until we succeed.
Most of us desire to live and "Abide In A "Blessed State".
We yearn to experience available joys and to maximize our adventure through this present life.
As is the case for any concern of our lives, through God's Holy Word, we find keys which reveal how to "Abide in a "Blessed State".

How to Abide In A "Blessed State" (2 of 5)
Blessed is defined as happy or joyful.
James 1:25
--NLT- But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don't forget what
you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.
We tend to think of God's Word as being restrictive, but James affirms that God's law gives liberty.
The God who gave freedom to the Israelite slaves (Exodus 20:2) is the God who gives the commandments that instruct His people in the way of true freedom. (Clark).
This Scripture presents three steps which if obeyed, WILL POSITION US IN A "BLESSED State".
Step one-"To "look carefully", is very forceful, and signifies that deep and attentive consideration given to a thing or subject which a man
cannot bring up to his eyes, and therefore must bend his back and neck, stooping down, that he may see it to the greater advantage" (Clark).

How to Abide In A "Blessed State" (3 of 5)
We must diligently seek to know God's Word.
As we look carefully into God's Word, continue to abide and remain committed to it, fixing our attention on it; we will fulfill the second
step necessary for our lives to "Abide In a Blessed State".
The third step is not to be a forgetful hearer. Deuteronomy 4:9 -"But watch out! Be careful never to forget what you yourself have seen. Do not let these memories escape from your mind...
Then we can be assured of our lives "Abiding in a Blessed State". We will always find continual blessedness.

How to Abide In A "Blessed State" (4 of 5)
The significance is that we shall be blessed in the very act of keeping the law.
It will produce peace of conscience; impart happiness to our minds and will be a good influence over our whole soul.
Psalm 19:11-"In keeping of them there is great reward."(Barnes).
While he is doing; he is prosperous and successful; and so he is blessed in his deed, by God, whose blessing makes rich, (Gill).
Psalm 119:2-Joyful are those who obey His laws and search for Him with all their hearts.

How to Abide In A "Blessed State" (5 of 5)
Luke 6:47-
I will show you what it's like when someone comes to me, listens to my teaching, and then follows it.
V. 48-It is like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock.
When the flood waters rise and break against that house, it stands firm because it is well built.
V. 49- But anyone who hears and doesn't obey ...When the floods sweep down against that house, it will collapse into a
heap of ruins."
Luke 11:28- Jesus replied, "But even more blessed are all who hear the Word of God and put it into practice."
1 Corinthians 15:58- So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you
know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.
Let's decide to "Abide in the Blessed State in Life!"

Dr. Lewis: I love this one. BE CAREFUL! It is almost like the Be Attitudes! I like because it is a good reminder to keep one on check. As you stated, it is not meant to make us depressed or anything to that effect. But rather to keep us remaining humble at all times, always giving thanks and supplications to Almighty God. Thank you so much for the inspiration. May I borrow it for my collection? I promise to give you the credit whenever I use. It's really good. It's the type of sermon one could "whip" out on a moment's notice and lay it on an audience. Or at a secular gathering. It would make a "soft" message for a group of unsuspecting audience. It does not seem heavy, but it is packed with the fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit. It's effect will remain in whoever hears it long after the message was delivered. Glory be to Almighty God. DR.
