The Passing of Your "Baton" (1 of 5)
Life is like a relay race! As teammates pass the baton to the one running after them; so do people pass their "Batons of Life" to family, friends and all coming behind them. Whether it is due to aging, change of life's assignments, one falling along the wayside, death, etc.; no one continuously fills the role in life to which they are currently assigned. No matter how productive, significant or honorable a person is, they will not live forever. It is very humbling to realize that even those who make positive contributions in life; do not run their race forever. Isaiah 40:6-
..."Shout that people are like the grass. ...
V.7- The grass withers... And so it is with people

The Passing of Your "Baton" (2 of 5)
One of the consequences of sin is that we don't get to live in this present state forever; but must experience death.
One of the blessings of not forever living in this present state is that we won't forever live in this sin-filled, evil,
ungodly body of flesh.
It reminds us that we are not indispensable; that any person, situation, project, and even the world can and will go on
without our existence.
Through the course of time, the world has definitely had contributions of many great persons in various areas of life;
art, music, science, Christian Contributions, etc.
However, they no longer live among us.
|
The Passing of Your "Baton" (3 of 5)
This reality reminds of us of some life truths:
1) We must productively and wisely utilize the strength, resources and our time on earth; since each of these factors have an expiration date for our lives.
2) We should positively mentor and teach others how to produce "Good Works" so that "Good Works" will continue long after we are gone.
(This means we must be producing "Good Works" to mentor "Good Works").
3) We have examples of those whom we have observed; the quality of their lives and the decisions they have made.
We should learn from their lives; the results of making good decisions and the consequences of making bad choices.
Ecclesiastes 1:9-NLT- History merely repeats itself. It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new.
|
The Passing of Your "Baton" (4 of 5)
Whether we have been positively mentored and developed or not, each one of us will have the "Baton of Life" passed to us.
The "Changing of the Guard" represents persons who must pass their batons to others.
We then have the charge to step up to the plate and to effectively carry it the length of our race time.
The question is what will be accomplished during your run?
Will persons you lead be advanced or hindered by your run?
Will this era be better by your handling of the "Baton of Life"?
Since we carry the baton for our families, friends and others in general, hopefully, we will maximize our potential and
utilize the positive lessons we have learned to advance our team to the next level.
|
The Passing of Your "Baton" (5 of 5)
Let's seek to embrace and develop our skills because we realize that we are responsible before God Almighty for how we run our race
and for the batons we leave for those coming behind us.
No matter what our past has been, or our current location in life, or if we have not maximized our potential and run as fast or
as diligently as we should have; if we repent to God, even now the mercy and grace of our Great God will help us to make a
positive difference in the running of our life's race.
If we do so, then our living is not in vain and we will pass the "Baton of Blessings" to others which will result in us also blessing ourselves.
Bless you~
