Subject: Re: Advancement through Adversity
Another one of your masterpieces, eh? Psalm 119 is one of my favorite Psalms. Well, all parts of the Bible are my favorite. But in terms of everyday Bible study, Psalm 119 is tops. Then you quoted verse 71, which I am quite familiar with. "It is good for me that I have been afflicted, That I may learn your statutes."
Thanks for your email-- bless you~~~
It seems that the Psalmist is saying that we learn of God's statues, AFTER we have been afflicted. Is that saying, after we have been afflicted, then we sort of find out "why" God let us go? Will that be a fair assessment of how or why God would "get our attention?"
Many times because we won't pay as close attention when Daddy speaks through "Sunny Days of Blessings" to us; His wisdom knows that He must allow "Days of Adversity"-- unfortunate events or circumstances-conditions marked by misfortune, calamity, or distress to speak to us, which will usually get our attention.
We might not ever find out why God let us go through what we do--it is just part of the human-life-cycle~~~ but we do often come to the conclusion that now I understand what God was ORIGINALLY speaking to my heart that I either ignored or did not understand prior to be broken down by being afflicted.
How about when we have a illness that is passed down from our ancestors such as diabetes, kidney or liver problems? These illnesses are hereditary. How do we explain why they are passed down through prior generations to us?
Because of sin there came life issues--- none of which Daddy-God ever wanted us to experience-- but just like there are blessings for living the righteous life-- because we are under the cloak of sin- we will experience issues such as illness, death, etc. Of course-- there are dietary and other attention we can give our bodies early on to help to POSSIBLY PREVENT these things in our lives.
Other times, we just have to categorize it as part of the sin package and deal with it the very best that we can. Just like Daddy-God did not take away Paul's thorn in the flesh- He is not going to take away everything from us-- but will be with us and carry us through "Life Issues".
I have often wondered how we should define these of illnesses. Interesting subject, wouldn't you agree? This is the reason I love Bible study so much. Rev. C O K
Blessings for your health, mind, body and soul!! and definitely upon your family~~~Dr. T Lewis
