The Free State Foundation Names New Members to Its Board of Academic Advisors

 

Two Scholars Bring Additional Economic, Regulatory, and Constitutional Expertise to Board

 

ROCKVILLE, MD - Randolph May, President of the Free State Foundation, announced today the names of two scholars joining the distinguished members of the Free State Foundation's Board of Academic Advisors: Professor Enrique Armijo, Assistant Professor of Law at the Elon University School of Law and an Affiliate Fellow of the Yale Law School Information Society Project, and Robert Crandall, a Nonresident Senior Fellow in the Economic Studies Program at the Brookings Institution.

 

In announcing the appointments, May said: "I am very pleased that Enrique Armijo and Bob Crandall have agreed to join FSF's distinguished Board of Academic Advisors. Their addition to the academic board further enhances the Free State Foundation's already strong capabilities in the areas of communications law and policy, regulatory economics, and constitutional law. I am grateful to have such a prominent group of scholars on the board, and I value their contributions to FSF's activities and their expertise."

  

Below are short biographical sketches of the new FSF Board members, with links to their complete bios.

 

Enrique Armijo is an Assistant Professor of Law at the Elon University School of Law and an Affiliate Fellow of the Yale Law School Information Society Project. He teaches and researches in the areas of the First Amendment, constitutional law, torts, administrative law, media and Internet law, and international freedom of expression. His current scholarship addresses the interaction between new technologies and free speech. Professor Armijo's scholarly works have been published in several journals. Prior to joining the faculty at Elon Law School, he practiced with Covington & Burling LLP.

    
Robert W. Crandall is a Nonresident Senior Fellow in the Economic Studies program at the Brookings Institution, as well as at the Technology Policy Institute. He specializes in industrial organization, antitrust policy, and the economics of government regulation. Mr. Crandall's current research focuses on regulatory policy in the telecommunications sector. He is the author of numerous books and journal articles on communications policy and regulatory reform. He has taught economics at Northwestern University, MIT, the University of Maryland, and other educational institutions. Prior to joining Brookings, Mr. Crandall served as acting director, deputy director, and assistant director of the Council on Wage and Price Stability.
