Professors Jonathan Adler and William Kovacic Join FSF's Board of Academic Advisors

 

 

ROCKVILLE, MD - Randolph J. May, President of the Free State Foundation, announced today that Professors Jonathan H. Adler and William E. Kovacic have joined the Free State Foundation's prestigious Board of Academic Advisors. Professor Adler is the inaugural Johan Verheij Memorial Professor of Law and Director of the Center for Business Law & Regulation at the Case Western Reserve University School of Law. Professor Kovacic, a former Chairman and Commissioner of the Federal Trade Commission, is now Global Competition Professor of Law and Policy and Director of the Competition Law Center at the George Washington University Law School.

 

In announcing the appointments, May said: "I am particularly pleased that Professors  Kovacic and Adler, known here in the United States and, indeed, across the globe for their scholarship, have agreed to join FSF's distinguished Board of Academic Advisors. Their experience and acknowledged expertise, especially in the fields of administrative law, regulatory policy, competition policy, and antitrust law, will certainly contribute to FSF's scholarly work and maintain FSF's position as a leading free market-oriented think tank. I look forward to their participation in FSF activities and to having the benefit of their expertise."

 

Jonathan H. Adler teaches courses in environmental, administrative, and constitutional law Case Western Reserve University School of Law. He is the author or editor of four books and over a dozen book chapters. His articles have appeared in publications ranging from the Harvard Environmental Law Review and Supreme Court Economic Review to The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post. In 2007, the Case Western Reserve University Law Alumni Association awarded Professor Adler its annual "Distinguished Teacher Award."

 

William E. Kovacic is a recognized expert in the fields of antitrust law, competition policy, and government contracts law. Prior to returning to teaching at the GW Law School, Professor Kovacic served successively from 2001 - 2011 with distinction as General Counsel, Commissioner, and Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission. He has served as an advisor on competition and consumer protection issues to many foreign governments, and he has published widely in the fields of his expertise.
