THREE-WEEK INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED DIVISION
|
|
June 10 to June 28, 2013 8 AM - 3 PM, Monday to Friday
The Intermediate/Advanced Contemporary Dance Intensive is strategically designed to advance the artistic and technical skills of intermediate/advanced (pre-professional) dancers ages 13+ with at least 5 consecutive years of training in ballet and modern (4+ hours per week). Students who meet these requirements need not audition for entry into the Program. Students must attend all three weeks of the Intensive. Each week of the Intensive maintains a focus on contemporary studies grounded in the following modern dance techniques: Week 1 - Graham, Week 2 - Horton, Week 3 - Dunham. Guest choreographers and faculty are accomplished industry professionals, including Troy Powell, Artistic Director of Ailey II. The Program concludes with a formal student concert.
TUITION: $850, plus $20 registration fee

TWO-WEEK BEGINNER DIVISION
|

August 5 to August 16, 2013 9 AM - 3 PM, Monday to Friday
The Beginner Contemporary Dance Intensive for new dancers ages 13+ emphasizes the technical principles of ballet and modern dance alongside a creative curriculum that includes extensive exploratory work in contemporary dance. In a creative and encouraging environment, participants will learn new approaches to expressive storytelling by developing emotional connections and artistic approaches to assigned choreography and related coursework. Students must attend both weeks of the Intensive. The Program concludes with an in-house student performance.
TUITION: $650, plus $20 registration fee

GIRL POWER DANCE CAMP
July 8 to July 12, 2013 9 AM - 3 PM, Monday to Friday
Girls rule! This girls-only camp is designed for novice dancers ages 9 through 13. In an uplifting environment led by an all-female teaching staff, the camp uses dance as an artistic medium for reinforcing positive images of women. Emphasizing the principles of ballet and modern dance, the camp includes a dance-making component that reinforces self-respect and self-confidence while awakening one's creative potential. Also included are insightful and humorous workshops with guest mentors, all of whom are accomplished women in the arts. All camps culminate with an in-studio presentation for family and friends.
TUITION: $300, plus $20 registration fee

JUNIOR CONTEMPORARY DANCE CAMP
July 15 to July 19, 2013 9 AM - 3 PM, Monday to Friday

HIP HOP DANCE CAMP
July 22 to July 26, 2013 9 AM - 3 PM, Monday to Friday
This beginner camp for students 9 through 13 explores urban dance forms that transcended the streets to become the hottest styles on stage. The curriculum introduces students to various hip hop dance styles, including breaking, locking, popping, tutting, krumping, jerkin', house and more. In a creative and encouraging environment, participants will learn new approaches to expressive storytelling by developing emotional connections to assigned choreography. All camps culminate with an in-studio presentation for family and friends.

A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, The Center for Contemporary Dance is a leading Florida production center for professional dance performance and community dance education programs. Over the past 11 years, The Center for Contemporary Dance has supported emerging and seasoned artists in the creation and presentation of more than 220 new dance works. In addition to producing professional stage productions, CCD develops arts education programs that reach child welfare organizations, underserved populations and public schools across five Central Florida counties.
