From the Principal
Thank You for Another Great Year
I want to thank everyone for another fantastic school year. The amount of passion and energy that our students, teachers, and parents put into making Steele a fantastic school is humbling, to say the least.

I appreciate how our students always put their best selves forward. They truly strive to improve every day. It's evident in how they treat one another on the playground, the engagement they have in class, and their excitement in the morning.

I want to thank our staff for ensuring that no decision at Steele is made without first asking the question, "What is best for students?" This staff knows their kiddos both academically and personally. They take the time to build lasting relationships that increase our students' confidence and help them succeed for years to come.

Lastly, I want to thank our parents for their never-ending generosity and care. Steele parents roll up their sleeves right along with the staff, and will do anything needed to support students. Our parents ensure that all students are cared for at Steele.

Steele is a truly special place, and I'm grateful to be your principal. I want to thank ALL OF YOU for your effort and care. I'm filled with gratitude for the privilege of being a part of this amazing community.

I hope everyone has a fantastic summer. Thanks for all you do!

Cheers,
Kevin

As co-editor of the Steele Stallion Press, I don't often get to write the articles, but this one is from me. I'd like to extend my gratitude and best wishes to my co-editor for the past five years, Liz Marvan. Liz and I began co-editing the Stallion in 2011-12, when her daughter was in first grade. With continuation tonight, the Marvan family will be moving on from Steele, and Liz is moving on from this position. I want to thank Liz for her countless volunteer hours, her friendly nature, and her amazing organizational skills. I wish Liz and her family all the best as they move to the next phase in their lives.

Adopt-A-Bed in the Steele Garden for the Summer

The Steele Garden Committee is looking for families to "adopt-a-bed" for the summer in our school garden. Volunteers are asked to weed a bed once a week (June through August) and monitor the bed to assure the drip irrigation system is working. Any watering issues will be handled by a garden committee member. Committee members will also be available if you are going to be out of town and need help finding a substitute family in your absence.

In addition to knowing you are supporting the school garden's Seed to Cafeteria program, you may harvest and keep what is in your bed over the summer!

Contact Aimee Corazzari for more information and to sign up.

2016-17 Room Parents
It's time to consider being your child's classroom Room Parent for the next school year! The room parent network consists of two volunteers in each classroom to assist teachers with class parties, share classroom news, and find ways to build classroom community. Learn more here.  Once you know your child's classroom for the coming year, email your name and the teacher's to next year's room parent coordinator, Nisha Ashley.
