Living the Code Assemblies
We had our first "Living the Code" assemblies this week. We held the assemblies to review the line in the code we focused on last month, honor students who exemplified this line in the code and prepare for next months Living the Code theme.
This past month we focused on, "We respect ourselves, each other, our school and our community." Our students did an amazing job during these assemblies. We chose a student who exemplified the code from each class. Depending on the grade level and the class, the winner was chosen by the students, by the teacher or a combination of the two. Our teachers told the audience why the student won the award and then members from the winners class shared with the audience what they've seen the winner do to "live the code".
This month we will focus on, "We treat everyone with kindness, compassion and a forgiving spirit." The real beauty of this work is that we get to grow together and our students get to appreciate the great work that they do together. I am very proud of the work they do, both academically and socially.
New Security System at the Front Entrance I am excited to report that we have purchased a new buzzer and camera for the front entrance of the school. This new security system allows us to clearly see who is entering the building and also allows us to speak with folks so we can check why they are coming into the school. I want to ask people to please follow these simple steps when coming into Steele. -
Please use the front entrance between 8:15 and 3:30
-
When you press the buzzer we will ask how we can help you. If you remember please tell us who you are in addition to why you're here
-
Please check in at the office after coming into the building
Please make sure to check in at the office, no matter how long you have been volunteering at Steele. Having consistent procedures in place allows us to put student safety first.
Thanks for all you do-cheers Kevin
