Havana Nights - Fall Fundraiser
I am very excited about this year's Fall Fundraiser, Havana Nights! For those of you new to Steele, our Fall Fundraiser is our biggest fundraiser of the year. This is how we afford to have second educators in every room, despite rising personnel costs. This is also a great way to get together with new and old friends and celebrate our love of the Steele community. If you haven't attended one of these in the past, I highly encourage you to attend this year. There is always wonderful food, great music, a cash bar, and some fancy dancing by the end of the night. This year the event is being held on Friday November 13th. I would like to thank the Snow/Burnett family for again generously allowing us to hold this event in the beautiful Space Art Gallery. Enjoy the art, but make sure not to spill dip on any of the paintings! You will be able to find more details about tickets and times in the PTA section, below. (There will also be updates every week.) I look forward to dusting off a fedora and celebrating Steele with you!

Back to School Night Recap
I'd like to thank all our parents who were able to attend Back to School Night. This is the second year we've used this format, and it's a good way for parents to become acquainted with their child's (or children's) teachers and to learn what the expectations and learning targets are for the year. Thank you for being such great partners in everything we do here at Steele. We couldn't do it without you!

Camp Cheley
As many of you know, our fifth grade students are at Camp Cheley this week, participating in an outdoor educational experience. At this time the old adage, "no news is good news applies!" I'm looking forward to driving up on Thursday morning, going for a hike, and spending Thursday night with our 5th grade students.

Just a reminder for fifth grade parents, the bus will return from Camp Cheley at 1:00 PM on Friday. Students can be picked up in front of the school at this time, or any time up until the regular 3:00 PM dismissal time. Firfth-graders who normally are in Kaleidoscope/after-school enrichment on Friday afternoons can optionally go to those activities, and be picked up at the regular time from their activities.

Thanks for all you do!

Cheers,
Kevin

Garden News
There will be a cooking demo this Friday during the Steele Farmers' Market, 3:00 to 3:45 PM. If you can spare any extra veggies from your home garden, please bring them to the Farmers' Market on Friday. The Garden Committee would really appreciate the donations since the weather was tough on the garden this summer.

On Tuesday the 15th, Slow Food Denver's Seed-To-Table workshop will be held at the Steele garden. Learn more about the program and register now.
