Summer Jobs Program Underway in Muskegon and other Michigan Communities
Earlier this month, 530 teens and young adults from struggling Michigan communities began summer and year-round jobs funded by the DTE Energy Foundation.
The foundation's statewide Youth Employment Initiative includes summer jobs in Muskegon, Detroit, Highland Park, Inkster, Pontiac and Ypsilanti.
The foundation provided $750,000 to fund the summer jobs at 30 community agencies. Muskegon has 36 interns based at area non-profits for six weeks this summer.
United Way is very happy to have Takia Jones working with us. She attends Muskegon High School and is in 11th grade. She is a Varsity Cheerleader and also does competitive cheer. She hopes to attend college for graphic design. Welcome Takia!
