Delightful December Specials

Dear Forklift Fans,

Tonight, Dec. 4th, we're staying open late to throw a little shindig!

From 6pam - 8pm, come on by the 'Lift to enjoy a cozy holiday party with live music and local artists selling unique holiday gifts. We'll have a pop-up bar and a food truck with a warm, toasty dinner selection!

Forklift First Fridays became such a hit over the summer and we had a lot of fun hanging out with all of you. So if you missed our summer series, this is your chance to experience the Forklift after dark - Holiday Style!

We also have some fun December sales and freebies for you, and in front of our warehouse, Tanglewood Works is overflowing with great green gifts for the holiday season!  Two of our partners are also offering fun holiday events - a performance of "A Christmas Carol" and a tour of historic homes - that help the community too.

Keep reading below for all of the details!

Hope to see you soon,
Nancy J. Meyer

Get your green gifts at Tanglewood Works!
In past holiday seasons, Community Forklift has hosted a "Mistletoe Market" for your gifting needs.  We would invite dozens of artists to consign with us, and clear out space in the warehouse for a nice selection of upcycled and eco-friendly gifts.

We're excited to report that, this year, we are not hosting our Mistletoe Market!  Why is this good news, you ask?

Well, our Mistletoe Market has been replaced by something even better:
Tanglewood Works
which is open year-round!

Sue Older-Mondeel consigned her Shabadaba Chic furniture and decor with us during the 2013 Mistletoe Market. It was so popular that we gave her a booth within the Forklift after the holiday season ended. But she was dreaming even bigger, and when the rental space in front of our warehouse opened up, she took the leap. She gathered other artisans to work with her, and now it is a gorgeous space where artists who use vintage, reclaimed, salvaged, and recycled materials come together to sell their jewelry, art and furniture; learn from each other; and inspire other DIYers."

This means that you now have a ton of options for December - and every other holiday, housewarming party, and birthday throughout the year! They're open 5 days a week, from Wednesday through Sunday. You can visit their website or follow their Facebook page to get a preview of all the cool offerings - the inventory changes constantly.

Want to try making your own gifts?
Our friends at Tanglewood Works also have a ton of cool classes coming up, as well as some FREE demos! Space is limited, so be sure to register early.

CLASSES
Classes are held at
Tanglewood Works THE STUDIOS
(3613 Oak Lane, Mt Rainier MD)
Please note: there is a fee of $125 for these intensive workshops, but right now they're on sale for jus $69 each!

Mon. Dec. 7th, 2015:  6:30pm - 9:30pm
Prerequisite:  Chalk Paint Party 101
Please bring an item to paint that you can carry in ONE hand. Sue's gonna show you all the ways you can use chalk paint to enhance your furniture. She will be showing you different techniques to get layered color effects, how to create a natural distressed look, and how to get a real chippy look. She will also go into depth on finishes for your piece

ART AFTER WORK - FREE DIY DEMOS
These free demonstrations will be held at the Tanglewood Works shop in front of Community Forklift, at 4641 Tanglewood Drive, Hyattsville, MD

Wed. Dec. 9th:  6pm
Don't hand over your hard earned $$ to Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, or Anthropologie for their reproduction mercury glass. Bring a small glass item (under 5 inches) and do it yourself!

Wed. Dec. 16th:  6pm
Looking for that perfect hostess gift, or just a chance to leave the holiday stress behind and make some art? In this demo Sue will show you simple ways to turn ordinary glass ornaments and even recycled light bulbs into one-of-a-kind stained glass-style ornaments.
