Dear Forklift Fans,

DIY WORKSHOPS

Bahi a from On The Purple Couch is back and this time she'll be demonstrating how to update your cabinets with chalk paint.
Come on by to learn how to refresh your tired cabinets and give your kitchen a brand new look! Attendees will learn how to prepare their cabinets, how to estimate how much paint they'll need and what finishes could be selected when painting cabinets.
Remember, painting with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint requires no stripping, no priming, and no sanding....woo hooo!

Our friends at Tanglewood Works have a ton of cool classes this month, including BYOB evening classes so you can unwind, uncork, and let your creative juices flow!
Classes are held at Tanglewood Works THE STUDIOS (3613 Oak Lane, Mt Rainier MD) Please note: there is a fee of $125 for these intensive workshops, but right now they're on sale for just $49 - $69 each!
Class size are limited and fill up fast, so be sure to register early.

Learn multiple techniques for transferring images onto wood and even fabric, and leave with a finished personalized piece.

This three-hour class will take you from start to finish in reupholstering an ottoman or chair seat. You will learn some of the trade secrets that will give you a professional look to your project.

Learn numerous recipes for creating chalk paint using salvaged paint. Sue will cover choosing & mixing paint, brush technique, basic distressing techniques and how to choose a sealant for your finished piece.

 Volunteers and donors are still needed to help with this day to serve veterans, individuals, families, and youth who are homeless, partially housed, or at risk of becoming homeless. This one-stop event provides easy access to critical support services including food, shower, and laundry facilities; medical and dental services; onsite application for Veteran's Administration and Department of Social Services benefits; mental health assessments and counseling; and FREE photo ID cards from the Motor Vehicle Administration.

It's always fun to see what others have done to restore and repair their old homes. We're looking forward to getting inspiration from some of the beautiful historic homes on this tour in Laurel, Maryland. The Laurel Museum's gift shop will also be open during the tour, so it's a great time to pick up a present for someone who loves local history!
