Dear Forklift Fans,
What better way to kick off the holiday weekend than enjoying music and food with friends and neighbors? Come on over to our Forklift First Friday party tonight from 6-8pm.
Or maybe the long weekend is tempting you to finally finish that home improvement project. Well, then you can celebrate independence by visiting your local, independent reuse store! This Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (July 3-5), we're having a WAREHOUSE-WIDE SALE!
Save 40% on standard building materials AND vintage treasures! Get more details on our website.
If you can't make it out here for the sale, we've got another way for you to save this month: for the first time, we're trying out Groupon coupons.
If you buy a coupon, you'll get a discount of 50% off (or more!)
on Community Forklift items!
If this promotion goes well, we may offer Groupons regularly. So please check it out, and share with your friends.
We've got free workshops, job opportunities, and good deals in this month's newsletter, so keep reading!
Thanks, Nancy J. Meyer CEO/COO

COMMUNITY NEWS
|
If you're a bargain-hunter, regardless of where you live in the DC region, you should check out the excellent Secondhand News column, written by Lauren Flynn Kelly for the Hyattsville Life & Times.
In the June issue, she wrote about changes in the local reuse industry, including the closing of the popular Sarah's Treasures, and the passing of beloved Mr. Cherry of the DC Bargain Center & Van Lines.
As a bright spot, she cheered the success of Tanglewood Works. If you haven't been, you really should come see this wildly colorful little shop in front of our warehouse. In a short time, Sue Older-Mondeel has built this project into a fantastic operation!
In response to the article, Sue wants everyone to know:
"We are excited by how well we have been
supported by our own local communities, and the ever-growing surrounding neighborhoods that love to support our local artisans. Thanks for getting us close to our one year anniversary and thanks to
Community Forklift for taking a chance on our 'repurposed' vision."
- Sue Older-Mondeel,
Where Upcycling and Art Connect (a project of Community Forklift)
4641 Tanglewood Drive, Edmonston MD 20781
Open: Thursday & Friday 11-4, Saturday 10-5, Sunday 1-5

Also, if you missed our Green Job Fair last month, never fear - we've got a ton of information about all the employers and their open positions. We'll be posting even more jobs next week, so keep checking back!
|
How about any young folks looking for work?
Our partners at Joe's Movement Emporium have a great training opportunity. In fact, one of their participants is interning at the Forklift this summer, and doing a fine job!
Please spread the word, and feel free to print the flyer below (We also have a flyer in Spanish). Thanks!

JULY SPECIALS

Just Arrived:
All Sorts of Lumber!
Please note that due to limited space, we are no longer able to store lumber purchases. You must haul away your boards at the time of purchase, so it's smart to bring a truck - and a strong friend or two to help you load.
We've recently received some big donations from local deconstruction companies, so we have a huge amount of wood here in the warehouse. Lumber usually goes very fast, so hurry in soon!
Here's what has just arrived:
* Several hundred square feet of vintage oak flooring, much of it from the same house, priced at $2 per square foot.
* Lots of partial sheets of half-inch plywood, and some full sheets - and even some 10' sheets of drywall (We suspect this will disappear in the blink of an eye). * 2"x4", 2"x6", 2"x8", and 2"x10" pine lumber up to 16' long. It's priced at 15, 30, 40, and 45 cents per linear foot, respectively. We also have 1"x6" lumber priced at 30 cents per linear foot.
 * New delivery of Treincarnation! We've just received a nice truckload of raw-edge, sustainably harvested planks from our consignment partner. These will go very fast, so come visit soon.

Free lumber scraps!
Do you know about our FREE pile? It's out in the courtyard and there are lots of treasures to be found.
To make room for all of the great lumber we've received recently, we had to move a lot of smaller wood scraps to the free pile. It's overflowing right now, so come see us soon and take home some free wood for craft projects and odd jobs!
|
Furniture Blowout!
We've marked a bunch of modern & vintage furniture down to $50 or less. This special includes lots of dining tables & executive desks! Prices as marked.
Sale does not include items with missing or damaged price tags, select specialty items, or items from our consignment partners.
