Dear Forklift Fans,
It's that time of year again - as the days get shorter, nights get colder, and we start to think about the all-too-quickly approaching holidays. Well, Community Forklift has you covered! Now through the end of December, our Green Gift Fair is gathering some of the area's most creative artists to display their work all under one roof! Each of these artists use reclaimed, refurbished, or otherwise renewable materials in their work. Many artists are offering how-to workshops or demonstrations in the coming weekends. Come warm up with a free cup coffee or tea, shop our gift fair, and peruse special sales on Forklift items - and enjoy STOREWIDE SAVINGS all Thanksgiving weekend!

The folks at Shift Your Shopping point out, "As customers, we are about to collectively spend a large portion of our annual shopping budget between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31. If you join us in shifting those dollars to locally owned, independent businesses, we'll all generate 2-3 times as much economic activity in our community than if we had spent our money at a national chain. Across North America, that could mean billions of dollars of economic impact!"

Green Gift Fair!
Shawn Theron of SOGH From Scrap lumber to old bedroom doors (some from Community Forklift itself) to chucks of wood found on the side of the road and even a good dumpster. As a fairly new artist based out of the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore, I have a total blast painting big bold abstract paintings in all shapes and sizes! - doing what i can to make the world a more beautiful place! Thanks and have a great now! SOGH
Eileen Campbell of refab reconstructed clothingUnwanted sweaters are deconstructed and recreated as fabulous new designs. The one-of-a-kind sweaters and accessories by refab reconstructed clothing are made from cast-off clothes, thrift-store finds, and items scavenged from the back of closets. The materials, mostly 100% natural fibers, are machined washed and dried before reconstruction, which means the finished products will not need to be dry-cleaned.
Jennifer Perrella of JenKaye Designs
I use old tee-shirts, pillow cases, and sheets to create shopping bags, messenger bags, and other items. Very affordably priced, so they make great stocking-stuffers!
Pierre-Antoine of GoHoArt
A painting begins intuitively. My inspirations come from many unexpected places. A trip, a conversation or an event can be sources of inspirations. My work is born out of the necessity to express emotions, thoughts and feelings. You would find some images which are familiar to you because they are from your backyards. I paint to portray the beauty of the world and the environment in which I live in any way the imagination guides me.
I work on canvas, wood, paper and on rocks. I use acrylic or oil paint according to my inspiration of the moment. I pick up some reclaimed or recycled materials to give them a second life. They can be old cabinet doors or clipboards.
Peggy and Paul Lord of RocketPig T-Shirt Co.
We make custom embroidered shirts for children, adults and extra sizes using reclaimed and recycled materials for appliques, reclaimed thread and notions and discarded buttons from a previously-owned fabric store. Our designs include green themes, humorous sayings, and winter and holiday art. Most of our T-shirts are low environmental impact cotton grown in the USA.
Daniel Sekou Williams says, "I have been blessed with the gift of creativity and I am going to share my creativity with the world." Daniel is one of our newest staff members at Community Forklift. He is selling 3-year old Norway Spruce, Colorado Blue Spruce, and Eastern White Pine saplings at the gift fair.
Terry Lewis, of Salvage Arts. Lamps built from scratch, using gears & springs from old machines. Inspired by "steampunk". Some materials & shades from Community Forklift & other resale sources.
Keith Harper of Rox Produx
Did you know that CF's floor manager is also a stone artist? It's hard to believe that Keith's beautiful bookends, radiator shelves, and ornaments were once broken curbstones, discarded tile, & scraps of granite counters.
