Greetings!
It has been a busy Fall here at the Successful Communities Toolkit. We are developing new SCOTie case studies, adding planning resources, and exploring planning issues like sustainable agriculture, foodshed planning, and climate change preparedness. Check out some of our new case studies shown below and don't forget to catch up on our recent blog posts.
In addition to new case studies and resources, last October, Western Lands and Communities produced a webinar on Sustainable Agriculture and Foodshed Planning. This webinar featured Diane Kushlan the principle of Kushlan and Associate, Cassie Peters the Executive Director of Ten Rivers Food Web, and Rubina Cohen the Santa Fe Food Policy Coordinator. During this session, we explored the finer points of urban agriculture and the components of food policy as they apply to zoning ordinances and codes as well as preliminary food planning in Idaho's Treasure Valley and the work conducted by the Santa Fe Food Policy Council.

Coming up on Wednesday, we are hosting a webinar on climate change preparedness planning, which will feature Lisa Friend from Boulder County, CO and Stephanie Smith from Flagstaff, AZ. This webinar is scheduled for December 5, 2012 at 11am PT/12pm MT.

New SCOTie Partners
SCOTie has added a few new partners this Fall including:
- Western Rural Development Center: WRDC is a regional catalyst for capacity building in the West. The Center collaborates with its public and private sector partners to promote excellence in research, education, and Extension for the prosperity of western rural communities.
- Community Food and Agriculture Coalition of Missoula County: CFAC is a multi-stakeholder coalition that addresses community needs related to food and agriculture in a comprehensive and creative way. The dedicated involvement of citizens, public officials, and people with a range of interests, such as farmers and anti-hunger advocates, is essential to securing the health of our local food and farming system.
