3-14-14

Hi Everyone!

Have you ever got a mosquito bite before? It can be really annoying! It itches and you get a red bump. No fun. But a few days later it goes away and we forget all about it. In Africa, when a mosquito bites it can give a disease called Malaria. Malaria causes people to get really sick.

Since Jesus told us to love our neighbor I think we should do something about this. Over the coarse of Lent we are going to lead the church in raising money for No More Malaria. This organization helps prevent, provide treatment and educate the people of Africa about Malaria.

In Sunday school you might have made a Bug Bank and Lenten Calendar. Each day read the calendar. Some days it will give you facts about Malaria and other days it will ask you to add to the Bug Bank. On Palm Sunday we will ask that you bring in your Bug Banks so we can send the money to No More Malaria.

We can help make a difference!

Family Devotional: Listening to God

Scripture

"As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen.  "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will send you out to fish for people."  At once they left their nets and followed him." ~ Matthew 4:18-20

Question

Why do you think Peter and Andrew just left their nets and followed Jesus? Do you think that was a good idea?

Why (not)?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, You call us to follow You, just as You called Peter and Andrew. Help us to listen to You and do what You ask us to do. Amen.

Please always feel free to email, call or stop by my office if you have questions, comments, suggestions or you just want to say hello.

Peace,
Chelsea
