Greetings!
For the past decade, peer-to-peer fundraisers have one key source of data for tracking the direction of their field - the Peer-to-Peer Fundraising Thirty. This year we've reached out to program leaders for a mid-year update. (Please email us information on whether your early events were up, down or flat.)
Unlike the doom and gloom we're hearing on the campaign trail, our initial research found more optimism than pessimism. While some groups are reporting record returns, others say they are keeping pace with or are running slightly behind their 2015 pace.
"We didn't have a record-breaking year, but we've had a great year," says Greg Sroda, senior director of AIDS/LifeCycle, which raised $16.2 million this spring - close to the record $16.6 million in raised the previous year.
Looking further into the cycling sector: Ride for Roswell, a two-day event in Buffalo, N.Y., reported fundraising revenue of $4.5 million, on par with its 2015 total. The Hill Country Ride for AIDS, meanwhile, raised $572,000 - exceeding its goal of $550,000. The American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure has seen a decline in ridership so far this year leading to a decrease in fundraising revenue. How have your programs fared so far this year? We're looking to connect with as many P2P professionals as possible in the next two weeks to hear what's working - and what challenges they're expecting through the rest of 2016. Email us today so we can all work smarter.
Thanks!

FOCUS ON:
The Mobile World of Peer-to-Peer Fundraising
|
It has been said that the only constant is change. The increasing use of mobile devices and an ever-growing number of social platforms available for participants to tap their community on behalf of your cause can be dizzying.
At the end of the day it's about people and providing your participants with the support they need - no matter the platform or device. Here are some ideas:
- Spot a successful fundraiser - Look for people who are engaged and make sure you're providing excellent customer service. Who sets fundraising goals, make self-pledges, sends emails and shares photos and videos? Help these people by providing new and better ways to support your mission.
- Understand the personas of participants - Can you see a pattern in how different types of participants use communication channels and case studies? This will allow you to develop the right materials for a 'type' of participant and tailor your own efforts to reach that type of person.
- Provide the right tools and materials - The majority of participants use their mobile devices to fundraise, so provide them with the right tools to do so effectively. For example, it turns out that mobile fundraisers often collect and share stories through photos. Make it simple by offering a variety of images and stories that they can share with their friends & family.
