THE LATEST IN P2P FUNDRAISING NEWS
January 2016
IN THIS ISSUE:

A major innovation at this year's conference is our new Program of the Year Award.

I'm excited to announce that our first honoree will be the Pan-Mass Challenge, the country's largest single (as in non-series) peer-to-peer fundraising event.

Founded in 1980 by Billy Starr, the Pan-Mass Challenge has raised a half-billion dollars for adult and pediatric cancer care and research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the Jimmy Fund. In 2015 alone, 6,000 riders traversed Massachusetts to raise a record $45 million in individual donations.

These are staggering numbers for a single event - but the Pan-Mass Challenge's impact on the field extends well beyond its amazing fundraising returns. It has been the role model for many other major cycling events such as Pelotonia and the Obliteride.

Simply put, the PMC is a trailblazer - and we're thrilled that Billy Starr will join us in Orlando to accept the Program of the Year Award and share insights he has gathered over 37 years at the program's helm.

If you haven't yet made plans to join us, there's still time to reserve your spot - and have the opportunity to help us honor this groundbreaking program.

Best,

New Year, New Plan Right?

It's a new year, which means it's time to start going to the gym and choosing grilled chicken over fried... right? It's also time to make sweeping changes to your fundraising program. Or, wait should you focus on changing one thing?

Before picking a direction, Shana Masterson asks you to think bigger; changing one thing or changing everything is a question of tactics. But, what's the strategy behind either choice? What's driving your decision to change everything or one thing? Get Shana's take on npegnage.com and while you're there sign up for Blackbaud's TeamRaiser Success Workshop!

Gifts Don't Motivate Fundraisers
Tuesday, February 9 at 2:00 pm ET

Do you find that hard to swallow? Do you flat out disagree? Join Katrina VanHuss, Turnkey CEO, on February 9th as she discusses this hot topic with Taly Fantini, Director of National Signature Events for ALS, and Otis Fulton, Turnkey psychologist.

The idea that gifts motivate fundraising is like the idea that the earth is flat, because that is the way it looks. Dig into that idea and you find out not only that it isn't true, but that an understanding of why it isn't empowers you as a P2P fundraiser in crazy ways!

We'll talk in more depth about the psychology of why that is, and show you statistics which prove the concept.

This webinar will help you:
  • Gain insights into the mindset and tendencies of the volunteer fundraiser
  • Learn how to avoid falling into market relationships and foster social relationships
  • Understand the counter-intuitive data results you might get
  • Get tips on how to install affinity in your fundraisers
  • Plan how to move even zero dollar fundraisers into action using these principles
