Greetings!
If your group has a hard time getting peer-to-peer participants to send fundraising e-mails, you have lots of company.Don't give up hope. There are proven ways to get more of your participants to hit send.To get big results, start very small, counsels Shana Masterson, a senior consultant at Blackbaud. Asking a participant to email five of their closest friends will yield much higher compliance than asking them to unleash emails on all of their contacts. "It'll build the participant's confidence in sending emails because they'll learn how to use the email tools, and also because that group of people is more likely to make a donation." For more advice on effective e-mail strategies and insights from a new study on the subject, check this out.

Like any relationship, the key to continued interest is engagement. By including a nurture series in your communication strategy, you will build profound connections with these key supporters.
- Segment: Creating a persona for different types of supporters is an essential tool in any engagement strategy, but your peer-to-peer participants definitely deserve a persona of their own.
- Automate: Use automated marketing to ensure that they hear from you on a regular basis. You need to reach out regularly and offer relevant information about your organization, cause and P2P programs. Be careful not to go overboard on the emails though.
- Analyze: After establishing the nurture series, analyze your communication. Open and click through rates will tell you a lot, but examining if participants are returning or getting involved in other ways is also important to analyze.
For more information on how to effectively nurture your peer-to-peer participants, visit the Charity Dynamics blog, The Workshop.
