Blue Ridge Medical Detection Dogs
Is it possible that the best medical diagnosis for cancer has
four legs and a tail?
Dogs have been deployed for their keen sense of scent detection for many years and for multiple uses, including: agriculture detection, bomb and narcotics detection, criminal apprehension, money detection, contraband, missing persons, police, seizure detection, and bedbugs. There are research centers involved in training cancer detection dogs in the US, Canada, and England. Dogs trained at these facilities have demonstrated as high as 98% accuracy for specific cancers, far exceeding the rates of accuracy of methods currently used and considered the "gold standard" cancer screening methods.
Knowing if you have cancer will soon be only a sniff and a breath away.
Help us to help you.
We need exhaled breath samples. We are looking for individuals who have received a medical diagnosis of cancer, but have not yet started any medical treatment (chemotherapy, radiation or surgery), as all treatments change the composition of the samples used to train the dogs. It is essential for us to have these "pure" samples in order to train the dogs to discriminate between cancer and medications.
All we need is your breath.
Those who are interested in participating in our effort will be sent a breath kit with instructions to breathe into the simple and non-invasive device. That's all we need: samples of breath. We are looking specifically for pancreatic, breast and lung cancer patients to begin our dogs' training to detect these cancers. (And, btw, our dogs are all carefully selected from shelter dogs, as we are also actively involved in rescuing homeless dogs, and placing them in loving, devoted homes.)

"The Queen of My Self is a great read. Although it will appeal to women of all ages, it should be mandatory for those facing what could otherwise be a mid-life crisis. Mama Donna's writing is clear, inspired, and filled with light-hearted, humorous wisdom as she exhorts us to live life to the fullest, and in doing so enhance and empower our elder years."

"I have just returned from 5 days of backpacking and your book was at the top of my pack! I devoured it in the 5 days, reflecting as I walked for 7 hrs, on what I had read the night before. Amazing! I love the way you clearly supported your ideas of the Queen with sound evidence.....written clearly, allowing the reader to understand yet not be bogged down in facts. This is an enjoyable book and not written in the traditional self-help style!"

The French have a marvelous saying:
When a woman loses her blood, she gains her voice. The New York Subways sport this sign:
If you see something, say something.
These Queens speak up and say what needs to be said in defense of what they know is right and worthy and in the best interest of women and society as a whole.
A Queen has got to say what she has got to say.
Sister Joan Chittister, a dissident nun, sent this message to congress:
"I do not believe that just because you're opposed to abortion, that that makes you pro-life. In fact, I think in many cases, your morality is deeply lacking if all you want is a child born but not a child fed, not a child educated, not a child housed. And why would I think that you don't? Because you don't want any tax money to go there. That's not pro-life. That's pro-birth. We need a much broader conversation on what the morality of pro-life is."
Rose Hamid was forcibly ejected from a Trump rally for standing in silent protest.
"My purpose for going there is I have a sincere belief that if people get to know each other one on one then they'll stop being afraid of each other and we will be able to get rid of all of this hate in the world, literally."
Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, the doctor-turned-campaigner was the first to sound the alarm about the water crisis afflicting Flint, Michigan.
"we couldn't believe that in 2016 now, in the middle of the Great Lakes, we couldn't guarantee a population access to good drinking water. We had an ethical, professional, moral responsibility to alert our community to what was going on."
Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R Alaska) commented on a difference
in the Senate on morning after the big blizzard.
"As we convene this morning, you look around the chamber, the presiding officer is female. All of our parliamentarians are female. Our floor managers are female. All of our pages are female. Something is genuinely different - and something is genuinely fabulous! Perhaps it speaks to the hardiness of women - put on your boots and put your hat on and get out and slog through the mess that's out there."
Tsai-Ing-wen, Taiwan's new president commented on the fact that she had never married: "Why buy the pig just for the sausage?"

The Queen's Court is a gathering of sovereign women of a certain age - our dear peers - who graciously offer information, guidance, inspiration and encouragement to each other.
We Queens know what we know. And we know a great deal. Our experience has made us wise. So, feel free to consult with our cyber council/counsel when you are need of sage advice or wish to explore a particular topic of interest.
What makes YOU angry?
And what are you doing about it?
The several past issues dealing with women's righteous anger have really touched a deep, festering nerve. There have been so many truly profound responses. They keep arriving. And as long as they do, I will keep printing them.
The sooner that we can express our anger and own it, the sooner we will be able to use it in a positive way to create much needed change. And the change that we are able to effect in the world, will, in the end, affect us and our own empowerment.
Dear Queen Mama, Why Ask "Why?" I did not tell my mother when I was a child what her husband, my stepfather, had been doing to me. He had instilled fear in me to remain silent, so I did.
When I killed my stepfather, The Beast, on NYE 1988, I didn't want to tell complete strangers what he had done to me that night. Everytime a cop showed up at our house, it was always a man. I wasn't about to be looked at like I deserved it. Like I wanted it. Because of that, I chose to not call the police that night. That, and the fact that I knew they'd ask the question I dreaded, "Well, has he ever done anything like this before?" That was not open for discussion, so I remained silent in my secret.
When I was arrested, I had the right to remain silent, so I did. By the age of 25, it had become second nature.
When I met my Public Defender, Pauline Weaver, she told me to keep my mouth shut, to say nothing. I asked if she ever wanted to know if I had done it, and she was adamant that she didn't. So, I held my silence intact.
Today, the DA asks why I never told before now. I did tell before now. I told in 1995 in an interview with a prison psychologist. I've told consistently since then. But I didn't have a way to officially tell the cout until Ron filed my Writ of Habeas Corpus in July 2014; That's when my side of the story was recognized by The Court. The DA insists that I've made up my history and I'm not really a victim or survivor of sexual abuse and assault.
So, why ask, "Why did you never tell?" The truth is obvious. I didn't think I'd be believed. I didn't want to have to keep reliving the horrific memories of the truth. I didn't want to be grilled, asked the same questions over and over, even if reworded to see if my version altered even the slightest. I didn't want to be picked apart like a carcass, at a vulture's mercy, and I didn't want to have to provide all of the disgusting details of what a rape truly is. I didn't want to be re-victimized. Why did I never tell? For the same reason abused women never tell what their husbands are doing to them - the fear of not being believed. And the humiliation and sense of vulnerability that comes with speaking up.
If you need to ask why - ask why is this still happening? Why are women who only defended themselves from violent abusers serving life terms in prison? Why are the abusers NOT getting life for killing one's spirit and very soul? If anyone is asking why anything, they need to ask why that.
Do I seem mad to you? You're darn right I am. I'm mad at the system. I'm mad at the DA for hiding evidence of perjury. I'm mad that women are still treated as third rate victims. And I'm mad that I have to keep answering why I never told. Like all victims of abuse, I was groomed not to. It doesn't get any simpler than that.
- Teresa, Chowchilla Prison, CA

I am overdue in telling you that your monthly email never fails to enlighten me and bring a smile. Thought provoking and funny as hell. What could be better? Thank you! Thank you for your time & for all you do. Happy, healthy New Year, full of love, joy and peace. Love,
- Monica. ?
Thank you Majesty. I think of you often in love, honor and gratitude for your teachings and example of what it is to walk through the world as a Queen. We still carry those teachings forward every year at WWG and wherever we walk in the world, paying you homage as we rise and stride. As you well know, 'tis often a struggle to do so...we do it anyway. Feeling Big love for you Donna Henes today as I count my infinite blessings.
- Inanna (Her name for me), NY
I am moved to report five recent deaths of leaders that some of you may have known. Two of these were members of the triad who founded and ran ICI (Information Center Incorporate): A Woman's Place bookstore at College and Broadway in Oakland, and later Mama Bears' Bookstore and Coffeehouse on Telegraph in Berkeley. A year ago February, in Oakland, Natalie Lando Goldman died; a month ago, Carol (Vorvolakos) Wilson. In September in San Antonio, we lost Sister Dorothy Ettling, who with Dianne Jenett and two others, helped develop Organic Inquiry, and taught women's psychology in Elinor Gadon's Ph.D. program at CIIS in the 1990's where it was my privilege to have her as a teacher. On her last day with our cohort, Dorothy went around the circle of us, and blessed every one of our vulvas, a ritual I will never forget. And just three days ago, long time Lesbian and Gay activist of Los Angeles, Jeanne Cordova, passed over, several weeks after sending an open letter to her extended community saying exactly what was happening to her. These changes as I read them over, remind me of how much has been accomplished. For some of us, probably all, the call to leave a powerful legacy for younger people is quite strong just now.
- Judy, CA
Please keep your letters coming. And do feel free to make suggestions about content you would like to see. Or anything else, for that matter.
Your letters will be printed in the next Queen's Chronicles.

We extend hearty congratulations to our multi-talented circle of Sister Queens for their impressive accomplishments and successes.
When we are angry or depressed in our creativity, we have misplaced our power. We have allowed someone else to determine our worth, and then
we are angry at being undervalued.

Please send your good news, achievements, accomplishments, successes and celebrations so that our international circle of sovereign sisters can send you blessings and accolades.
And we are glad to so. It is a joy and a privilege to share in the fortune of another woman. I recently heard Oprah say the saddest thing ever - "The hardest thing about being successful is having someone to be glad for you."
It takes a centered and confident Queen to break that pattern. There are 60 million thrones out there. One for each of us. There is plenty of purpose, passion and power for us all. May we use it well!
