"The Queen of My Self provides numerous real-life examples, both modern and ancient, of women who discovered and learned to follow their own paths to new heights of personal fulfillment and continue to have an 'interesting' life, not constrained by yet another designation but adding 'Queen' to her repertoire of 'selves' as it fits each stage of her life journey. It's an easy-to-read page-turner of a book. I kid you not!"

Without doubt, The Queen of My Self is the best book of its kind I have ever read. You are blessed with such a wonderful warmth and easy flow that your book is a joy to read. Thank you for your inspiration and the four-fold goddess. When you spoke of her I could see her clearly in my mind's eye. All this time She had been there, but with Her back to me, waiting. Suddenly She turned and I recognized Her at once. I feel a connection with Her that I have never felt before.

Hail Queens!
I think we can agree that we are sick and tired of the disrespect and degradation of women worldwide, and the disregard for the safety and well being of the planet and of all life. We are furious about the violence perpetrated in the cause of greed and lust for power and in the name of religion. And we are frightened by the writing on the wall.
We are disgusted, depressed, and angry. And, worse, we are disempowered by the overwhelming enormity of of the problems we face.
But here we are on the cusp on a new year. A new beginning. A fresh start. Here is a chance for a change. A change in how we look at life and a change in how we live it.
Every day offers us a challenge, an opportunity to right a wrong, to restore balance, to show compassion, to establish peace, to do something positive, to assert our ourselves, to stand in our power.
Luckily, we have great role models. And there is no shortage of inspiration and encouragement offered by so many amazing, courageous, powerful, and effective women everywhere doing amazing, courageous, powerful, and effective things for the greater good.
In this issue I offer you a stirring sample of admirable sheroes of every stripe to stimulate your intentions and resolutions and to support your efforts in the year to come.
I send you blessings for a happy, healthy, hopeful, holy, productive, and audacious New Year,

By Eve Ensler From the Lebanese mountains To the Kenyan village of El Doret We are practicing self-defense Versed in Karate, Tai Chi, Judo, and Kung Foo We are no longer surrendering to our fate. Now, we are the ones who walk our girl friends home from school. And we don't do it with macho. We do it with cool. Our mothers are the Pink Sari Gang Fighting off the drunken men With rose pointed fingers and sticks in Uttar Pradesh. The Peshmerga women in the Kurdish mountains with barrettes in their hair and AK47's instead of pocket books. We are not waiting anymore to be taken and retaken. We are the Liberian women sitting in the Africa sun blockading the exits til the men figure it out. We are the Nigerian women babies strapped to out backs occupying the oil terminals of Chevron. We are the women of Kerala who refused to let Coca Cola privatize our water. We are Cindy Sheehan showing up in Crawford without a plan. We are all those who forfeited husbands boyfriends and dates Cause we were married to our mission. We know love comes from all directions and in many forms. We are Malalai who spoke back to the Afghan Loya Jurga And told them they were "raping warlords" and She kept speaking even when they kept trying to blow up her house. And we are Zoya whose radical mother was shot dead when Zoya was only a child so she was fed on revolution which was stronger than milk And we are the ones who kept and loved our babies even though they have the faces of our rapists. We are the girls who stopped cutting ourselves to release the pain And we are the girls who refused to have our clitoris cut And give up our pleasure. We are: Rachel Corrie who wouldn't couldn't move away from the Israeli tank. Aung San Suu Kyi who still smiles after years of not being able to leave her room. Anne Frank who survives now cause she wrote down her story. We are Neda Soltani gunned down by a sniper in the streets of Tehran as she voiced a new freedom and way And we are Asmaa Mahfouz from the April 6th movement in Egypt Who twittered an uprising. We are the women riding the high seas to offer Needy women abortions on ships. We are women documenting the atrocities in stadiums with video cameras underneath our Burqas. We are seventeen and living for a year in a tree And laying down in the forests to protect wild oaks. We are out at sea interrupting the whale murders. We are freegans, vegans, trannies But mainly we are refusers. We don't accept your world Your rules your wars. We don't accept your cruelty and unkindness. We don't believe some need to suffer for others to survive Or that there isn't enough to go around Or that corporations are the only and best economic arrangement And we don't hate boys, okay? That's another bullshit story. We are refusers. But we crave kissing. We don't want to do anything before we're ready but it could be sooner than you think and we get to decide and we are not afraid of what is pulsing through us. It makes us alive. Don't deny us, criticize us or infantilize us. We don't accept checkpoints, blockades or air raids. We are obsessed with learning. On the barren Tsunamied beaches of Sri Lanka In the desolate and smelly remains Of the lower ninth We want school. We want school. We want school. We know if you plan too long Nothing happens and things get worse and that Most everything is found in the action and instinctively we get that the scariest thing isn't dying, but not trying at all. And when we finally have our voice and come together when we let ourselves gather the knowledge when we stop turning on each other but direct our energy towards what matters when we stop worrying about our skinny ass stomachs or too frizzy hair or fat thighs when we stop caring about pleasing and making everyone so incredibly happy - We got the Power. If Janis Joplin was nominated the ugliest man on her campus And they sent Angela Davis to jail If Simone Weil had manly virtues And Joan of Arc was hysterical If Bella Abzug was eminently obnoxious And Ellen Sirleaf Johnson is considered scary If Arundhati Roy is totally intimidating and Rigoberta Menchu is pathologically intense And Julia Butterfly Hill is an extremist freak Call us hysterical then Fanatical Eccentric Delusional Intimidating Eminently obnoxious Militant Bitch Freak Tattoo me Witch Give us our broomsticks And potions on the stove We are the girls who are aren't afraid to cook. -Eve Ensler, NY

I nominate this cheeky United Airlines gate agent in New York for being smart and funny, while making her point, when confronted with a passenger who probably deserved to fly as cargo.
A crowded United Airlines flight was cancelled. A single agent was re-booking a long line of inconvenienced travelers.
Suddenly, an angry passenger pushed his way to the desk. He slapped his ticket on the counter and said, "I HAVE to be on this flight and it has to be FIRST CLASS."
The agent replied, "I'm sorry, sir. I'll be happy to try help you, but I've got to help these folks first; and then I'm sure we'll be able to work something out."
The passenger was unimpressed. He asked loudly, so that the passengers behind him could hear, "DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHO I AM?"
Without hesitating, the agent smiled and grabbed her public address microphone. "May I have your attention, please?" she began, her voice heard clearly throughout the terminal. "We have a passenger here at Gate 14 WHO DOES NOT KNOW WHO HE IS. If anyone can help him with his identity, please come to Gate 14."
With the folks behind him in line laughing hysterically, the man glared at the United Airlines agent, gritted his teeth, and said, "F**K YOU!"
Without flinching, she smiled and said, "I'm sorry, sir, you'll have to get in line for that too."

The Queen's Court is a gathering of sovereign women of a certain age - our dear peers - who graciously offer information, guidance, inspiration and encourage- ment to each other.
We Queens know what we know. And we know a great deal. Our experience has made us wise. So, feel free to consult with our cyber council/counsel when you are need of sage advice or wish to explore a particular topic of interest.
If you recall, I published these letters from sister Queens from Texas, Florida, and England in the last issue:
Dear Mama Donna.
Recent political events have pushed me to the point of despondency. I am completely crippled with feelings of helplessness and inadequacy. There is so much that I want to see improve in our country and in the world, but I don't know where or how to begin. What is a girl to do?
Depressed in Dallas
Dear Mama Donna,
I attended a candlelight ceremony for peace on the beach in Florida yesterday - only 30 people but hey, it is Bushland and I've signed two petitions today as always, and hope to be at the demo tomorrow. What more can I do?
Frustrated in Florida
Dear Mama Donna,
We here in Europe, watch the current events with horror and wonder with despair where are the States going? What can we do? Not much, watching from the sidelines. Maybe you have some ideas.
Disillusioned in London
I answered them with messages of empowerment, hope, and encouragement to speak their truth and walk their talk; with admonishment to DO SOMETHING. Do one thing. And then do another thing. I closed with this call to the Queen's Court for your reaction/interaction:
"I would love to continue this thread of discussion. Please send your thoughts, opinions, and personal experiences in response to these queries. Your letters will be printed in the next Queen's Chronicles."
Here is the stirring reply from Queen Shiloh Sophia in California:
Dangerous Territory
Dedicated to Our Great Work in the world,
and The Cosmic Cowgirls
 |
Painting by Linda Lanker
|
We are a tribe of truth tellers.
Revolution makers.
Movers and shakers
of things that need moving
and shaking. Like hips.
And old ideas that need
shaking off.
We are a gathering of women who
straddle the worlds.
We have one bare foot on the earth
(toenails painted sparkly of course)
and one cowgirl boot in the marketplace of life.
With our heads in the stars for big dreaming
and our arms outstretched
to embrace as much aliveness as we can.
We have our hearts on our sleeves, both of them.
Whether we be sinners or saints
or wear halos or horns there is
one thing you have to admit about us....
We agree...
Be the most you that you can be.
Be your own revolution
while being a part of the collective one.
We believe this truth to be self evident:
That each woman can transform
her life into a legend.
That stories are made for telling
around the campfire,
but legends are meant to be lived.
And sisterhoods are meant to
be your bridge when you don't know
the way over the troubled water of
the lies you have been told
and tell yourself still.
To help in the great adventure
of revealing the more you that there is,
we may hand you a paintbrush
a writing pen a drum a fiddle
a magic wand a bar of chocolate
some cowgirl boots and
a jar of red glitter and a ball of
red thread. And the craft of
inquiry. That's right - the path
of questions is that path
each of us must walk and keep
on walking. Creativity, curiosity
and? inquiry into oneself is the daily
cup of tea here.
Here we know what women
are worth and we tell you what we
know of our ancient and future wisdom.
We have been gathering the stories
of our grandmothers and grandfathers
about birth and death and transformation
that have been lost. We will not
allow them to be lost again. We
are carrying scrolls of wisdom
across the planet so that thousands
of hands hold these legends
and it will not be lost from us
like it was before.
This is where women
come to gather the bones
and sing their whole self
back together again.
We believe there is medicine,
sacred and true in
community that comes with the
territory of belonging.
Of being a part of that which
is bigger then you. And me.
A place where the collective
soul can unfurl her bright
wings and together we can
fly in a future that reflects
who we are and what we
care about.
And in closing I must give you a
Warning - if you enter
Cosmic Cowgirl Territory
there is no way your wild
woman will keep herself
contained. Beware of shifting
stories and old ideas falling away.
Beware of taking up space
that might make others
uncomfortable around you.
Beware of no longer being
willing to live a life that does not reflect
who you are. This is dangerous
territory. Welcome.
Your cup of revolutionary tea
is waiting for you.

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond to The Queen's Chronicles. It is a joy to connect with you and to share your comments with our sister Queens.
Letters in response to the NOVEMBER 2014 Issue:
I loved your "Being Prepared" column so very much, true words they are. Staying in the present moment is all one can really do. I need to remind myself that I have been through some situations that I thought were not able to be solved, but I did, sometimes with the help of others, sometimes on my very own. Thank you so much for a great reminder to stay in the moment.
- Elayne, PA
Donna, your newsletter is always such a gift, thank you. I shared your gorgeous, wise, and powerful article on "Death Feeds Life Feeds Death" on my facebook page.
- Camille, CA
A good blog Mama Donna, on death and all that. As we say here at my place in the Beltane ritual (which we just had a couple of weeks ago), as we offer each other sweet guava juice, "taste the sweetness of life, don't miss the Moment."
Love,
- Glenys, Australia
One of the best, Donna. Many thanks for your insights.
- Sherli, CA
I just finished reading your incredible essay. I knew you had a "challenging" (ha! right?) year, but I didn't know to what extent. Now I do, of course, and I want to say that you are, once again, a true role model for me. Your honest, compassionate, clear-eyed and beautifully written document is absolutely inspiring, and I'm so grateful that our existences on this wonderful Earth happened to intersect.
- Sharon, NY
Growing older has its scary moments and I sometimes get carried away with worry about how I will cope with this or that in the future. Thank you for bringing me back to the moment, which is just fine, thankfully!
- Lolly, LA
True words. Comforting words. Helpful words. I am so glad to have read them. They really hit home.
- Caroline, OH
Please keep your letters coming. And do feel free to make suggestions about content you would like to see. Or anything else, for that matter.
Your letters will be printed in the next Queen's Chronicles.

We extend hearty congratulations to our multi-talented circle of Sister Queens for their impressive accomplishments and successes.
And by the way, everything in life is writable about if you have the outgoing guts to do it, and the imagination to improvise. The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.

And we are glad to so. It is a joy and a privilege to share in the fortune of another woman. I recently heard Oprah say the saddest thing ever - "The hardest thing about being successful is having someone to be glad for you."
It takes a centered and confident Queen to break that pattern. There are 60 million thrones out there. One for each of us. There is plenty of purpose, passion and power for us all. May we use it well!

Prayer requests:
I am preparing my self to have 2 biopsies. I have many people praying for me, and I have been doing well with my wild brain, well, pretty well, but I could always use prayers, so if you remember, please hold me in healing light while I go through this period of my life, with its challenges. Blessings to you all.
- De Luna, NH
Positive thoughts and prayers for my sister-in-law Blanca who is in hospital very ill. Thank you.

Here it goes friends! Please, I need BIG TIME prayers for my sister-in-law Joan. She is going through the BIG C. She is a wonderful, giving woman. A wife, mother, grandmother. She is a fighter, always has been!

Please send your requests for physical and spiritual healing and positive energy so that the powerful women of The Queen's Court might send their prayers and blessings to you in your time of need.
The test of a democracy is not the magnificence of buildings or the speed of automobiles or the efficiency of air transportation, but rather the care given to the welfare of all the people.

A GLOBAL SPIRITUAL CONSPIRACY
On the surface of the world right now there is
war and violence and things seem dark.
But calmly and quietly, at the same time,
something else is happening underground
An inner revolution is taking place
and certain individuals are being called to a higher light.
It is a silent revolution.
From the inside out. From the ground up.
This is a Global operation.
A Spiritual Conspiracy.
There are sleeper cells in every nation on the planet.
You won't see us on the T.V.
You won't read about us in the newspaper
You won't hear about us on the radio
We don't seek any glory
We don't wear any uniform
We come in all shapes and sizes, colors and styles
Most of us work anonymously
We are quietly working behind the scenes
in every country and culture of the world
Cities big and small, mountains and valleys,
in farms and villages, tribes and remote islands
You could pass by one of us on the street
and not even notice
We go undercover
We remain behind the scenes
It is of no concern to us who takes the final credit
But simply that the work gets done
Occasionally we spot each other in the street
We give a quiet nod and continue on our way
During the day many of us pretend we have normal jobs
But behind the false storefront at night
is where the real work takes a place
Some call us the Conscious Army
We are slowly creating a new world
with the power of our minds and hearts
We follow, with passion and joy
Our orders come from from the Central Spiritual Intelligence
We are dropping soft, secret love bombs when no one is looking
Poems ~ Hugs ~ Music ~ Photography ~ Movies ~ Kind words ~
Smiles ~ Meditation and prayer ~ Dance ~ Social activism ~ Websites
Blogs ~ Random acts of kindness...
We each express ourselves in our own unique ways
with our own unique gifts and talents
Be the change you want to see in the world
That is the motto that fills our hearts
We know it is the only way real transformation takes place
We know that quietly and humbly we have the
power of all the oceans combined
Our work is slow and meticulous
Like the formation of mountains
It is not even visible at first glance
And yet with it entire tectonic plates
shall be moved in the centuries to come
Love is the new religion of the 21st century
You don't have to be a highly educated person
Or have any exceptional knowledge to understand it
It comes from the intelligence of the heart
Embedded in the timeless evolutionary pulse of all human beings
Be the change you want to see in the world
Nobody else can do it for you
We are now recruiting
Perhaps you will join us
Or already have.
All are welcome
The door is open
