The publisher advertising deadline arrived this week, and now it's time for bookstores to start thinking about their role in the campaign--selling books and ringing the register!

Catalog Ordering Underway

ABA member stores have until August 20 to place orders for this Fall's Best Books for Children catalog campaign, sponsored by the ABC Children's Group at ABA.

Eligibility requirements and ordering options can be found on ABA's BookWeb.org.

BINC Expands Aid Program
New Safety Nets Added for Stores 

The Book Industry Charitable Foundation has added utility shut-off prevention to its list of bookseller assistance programs. 

 

Under this new category, utility assistance may be provided to a bookseller when a shut-off notice has been issued and the household could lose electricity, gas or heating oil.

Judge George
Independent sales rep George Carroll is the only sales rep and the only Northwesterner chosen to serve on the nine-judge panel for the 2014 Best Translated Book Award. It's a well-earned distinction for NWBL's own translated works expert and North-North-West columnist.

Juneau's Hearthside Books has stepped up efforts to sell its two stores. The town needs Hearthside, but the owners need a rest.
