 Dear Friend,

Innovation has been part of the DNA of TTN from its beginnings when its founders turned away from traditional retirement.  They conceived of a new path for professional women retiring from interesting careers and active lives.  And so our intimate community offering friendship and support while creating a platform of myriad groups and activities began helping women from 50 forward pursue stimulating, purposeful lives.

Ever since, the organization has continued to develop innovative programming to further enrich our members' options.  Think of the admired "Caring Collaborative," a program where members assist each other when medical issues arise.  Or the "Women In Transition" workshops presented for women at that crossroads in their lives when they get to pick a new direction.

And now, building on past offerings, we introduce several new innovative programs.  We've redesigned our Caring Collaborative to meet the needs of groups and organizations outside of TTN, called "Living Well Together".  Add to that the newly created "Life Transition Services" with multiple sessions that allow deeper exploration of life's new challenges and the development of tools and guides for meeting them.  Learn about these TTN innovations and more in this month's chapter newsletter.

Wishing you a happy summer.

Warmest regards,
Eileen Kobrin
Independence
By Hara Estroff Marano

Independence - it's etched into our country's DNA. And so it is into our own as individuals, especially as New Yorkers. And that's what makes Living Well Together (LWT), an offshoot of TTN's innovative Caring Collaborative(CC), a promising program for our times.

Intended for organizations in the general community, it preserves independence among a population that's growing older with increasing healthcare needs, allowing people to age in place with a little help from friends and neighbors.

LWT is built on the same pillars as the CC - peer-to-peer mutual service and information exchange around health-focused needs. And those needs are typically spelled out in an all-important orientation that establishes the principles of confidentiality and boundaries of services-escorting to and from medical appointments, companionship, shopping, sharing information about medical procedures and available health resources. What distinguishes LWT ... You Asked For It; TTN NYC DeliversYouAsked
By Judith Glass

Life Transition Services (LTS), TTN-NYC's innovative suite of professionally led transition workshops and activities launched in May. LTS programs are designed to help us navigate the changes we are experiencing. They challenge us to "dig deep" and identify the values, passions and experiences that will help us define a new life full of meaning and purpose. Importantly, the programs are action oriented, ensuring that participants come away with a plan that will get them excited about their future.

Why is LTS so important? You have told us you are eager to work on your transitions. Members who participated in the successful Women in Transition
(WIT) workshops conducted during the past year came away energized and determined. They wanted more. Many attended a follow-up session and still they wanted more. NYC chapter leaders were listening. They created the LTS program to meet the need for structured group activities where we can come together within the TTN community to take control of our lives and develop... Read More

No More Walls!Walls
By Rita Delfiner

I saw "Hamilton'' - thanks to TTN.

I was the first to reply when a TTNer told a group at lunch that she had an extra ticket to the sold-out Broadway musical because a friend couldn't go and did anyone want to accompany her?   I'm sure they could hear my ''yes!'' from across the street.

Such networking is at the heart of "Culture Mavens"- a Peer Group whose members launched the  innovative, hugely successful  concept  dubbed "peer groups without walls.'' That means they're not like the typical Special Interest Group (SIG) which has small get-togethers in members' homes.  This new kind of group's focus is ... Read More
