Addressing Network Members at 2016 Encore Conference
|
Last month I had the pleasure of attending the Encore Conference in San Francisco. This is a gathering of organizational leaders in the field of positive aging. TTN came on the scene in 2000 when there weren't very many entities focused on supporting the generation of "baby boomers" poised to have an impact as encore seekers. In the past 16 years, an entire industry as grown up around us. As a member of the Encore Network, we have access to the best thinkers in the business. The conference showcased ideas to move our missions forward. One of the sessions I attended was on marketing - how do we reach our target member who may not even know she's in transition. I learned that the old ways of promoting our organization and the services we offer are exactly that - old. Press releases are left unread. The 'go-between media' is inundated with news that never sees the light of day. The disbursement of information across millions of platforms makes it impossible, especially with our limited resources, to know exactly where our prospective members go to learn about this stage of life. The Internet and social media are the waves of the future. So in the spirit of always moving forward and stepping into the 22nd century, I invite you to LIKE us on and FOLLOW us on . These platforms, along with our website, are where we share news about TTN, information you need to "age gracefully" as Charlotte put it, and events and activities in your local chapter. If you're not on Facebook and Twitter yet, sign up. And get your friends to sign up and join us too. That's how we will grow our membership, deepen our member experience and build a stronger TTN.
