TOPIC: Bridging The Communication Gap Between
Introverts and Extroverts
Steering Committee Members Jean Palmer and Francesca Shrady will facilitate this presentation and discussion.
The concepts of extroversion and introversion were first used by C. G. Jung in the 1920s and were later incorporated into the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator(r) (MBTI), in the 1940s. Each has a succinct definition and although all people can and do sometimes behave in both extroverted and introverted manners. However, each of us has a character-based preference for one form of orientation or the other. If you experience continuing problems communicating with someone, consider if differences in extroversion and introversion might be the obstacle.

Upcoming Social Group Activities
Thursday Morning Hiking Group
Now that it is cooling off a bit, the Thursday Hiking Group, led by Elaine Coleman, is a wonderful opportunity to explore the foothills of the Atalaya and Picacho peaks. Occasionally, we even make it to the top! (see photo:Jutta on top of Atalaya.) But not all our hikes are strenuous. Elaine graciously accommodates all levels of hiking experience, and we frequently do gentle hikes to make it comfortable for everyone. The most important thing for all of us is to spend time together and enjoy the beautiful outdoors.
During the summer months we meet at 7:45 a.m. at the Atalaya trail head at St. John's College parking lot (first parking area to the left when you turn into St. John's) and we're usually back by 10:00. If you join us, wear good hiking shoes, bring walking sticks, plenty of water, and a small snack. This is a dog-less hike
Sunday, August 18, 5-7pm:
Potluck Get Together at Elaine Coleman's Home and Garden
Saturday, September 6, 12-2 pm:

Peer Group Orientation
|
|
On Thursday, September 16, we will again hold our semi-annual orientation session for members interested in becoming
a part of a transition
peer group.
Transition Peer Groups differ from our social peer groups. Members meet regularly
to discuss a pre-selected topic in a safe, confidential setting to encourage participants to speak
freely and listen with
an open mind.
Stay tuned for time and location. The next orientation will be
in April 2015.
