The season for shark fishing and dolphin killing is fast approaching. Action is urgently needed to stop the heinous slaughter of dolphins for shark bait. Harming dolphins is illegal in Peru so we have the law on our side. Now we need to get the authorities to enforce those laws. Our partner in Peru has submitted additional legislation to Peruvian Congressmen to ban dolphin killing harpoons and impose stiffer penalties.
If we can change the attitude and actions of the Peruvian government we can save thousands of dolphins. The press is on our side. The public is on our side and so are many Peruvian government officials. Our campaign is clearly having an impact.
No Dolphin Meat For Sale in Lima.
We're already putting heat on dolphin meat vendors. BlueVoice is working with Mundo Azul in Peru in efforts to expose hunting dolphins for food and bringing perpetrators to justice to face increased penalties. Latest news is that no dolphin meat can be found for sale in Lima markets, a sign the pressure we've been applying is working. Now we need to send agents to coastal villages outside Lima to find out if dolphin is being sold there.

Amazon River dolphins are highly endangered but known to be captured and held in small riverside shows and as pets.
Researchers believe that that pink river dolphin is declining at 10% per year. And, as we discovered in the Pacific shark fishery, flesh from the pink dolphin is used to bait fish. We need to send agents down the Amazon to document illegal captures and use of dolphin as bait.

Let me stress - the law is on our side. The Peruvian people and press are on our side. We can change government policy and save thousands of dolphins. We can't do it without you.

Enough is enough. It's time to hold Peru accountable and change these disgraceful practices.
Peru deserves its own version of The Cove and Blackfish. We are gathering documentary footage for just this purpose. In addition, we are producing a film showing the benefits of dolphin and whale watching to the Peruvian economy.
Will you join us? Your gift will help save the lives of thousands of dolphins and help prevent the extinction of the Amazon River dolphin.
