The school year is off to a great start! Mansfield ISD trustees approved a balanced budget and a decreased tax rate. Also, the district met the state standard in accountability with some campuses earning distinctions. Plus, registration is open for our newest Adult Education classes. Trustees Approve Balanced Budget, Decreased Tax Rate
The Mansfield ISD Board of Trustees adopted a balanced budget for the 2015-16 school year, and the tax rate was lowered.

The 2015-16 budget totals $311.2 million. The budget includes $257.7 million for the general fund and $53.5 million for debt service. Highlights of the budget include: an increased minimum teacher salary, employee raises, and contingency positions to address growth.

Trustees also voted to approve a lowered tax rate of $1.51. (It was previously $1.5271.) The rate applies per $100 of taxable property value.

MISD Meets State Standard in Accountability,
23 Campuses Earn Distinctions

A recently released report by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) showed that all Mansfield ISD schools received the Met Standard state rating, and 23 of the district's campuses earned distinctions in one or more areas.

The TEA rates schools as Met Standard, Met Alternative Standard, or Improvement Required. The ratings are based on student achievement, student progress, closing performance gaps, and postsecondary readiness.

MISD Earns Highest Awards for Financial Reporting
For the second year in a row, Mansfield ISD has been awarded the highest recognition from two organizations for its commitment to financial responsibility and transparency.

MISD received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). The district also received the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting award from the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO).

New Adult Education Classes Available for Fall 2015
Registration for a new semester of Adult Education courses is now open. A total of 11 classes will be offered.

The classes include a wide variety of topics such as: holiday cooking, kitchen techniques, welding, law enforcement, and maneuvering around an iPad. There are courses for all different levels of expertise, and residents from all areas are encouraged to sign up.
