July 15, 2015 - Vol. 13, No. 1

Dear MISD Parents, Staff, and Community:

We hope you had a relaxing and rejuvenating summer, and it is our pleasure to welcome you to the 2015-16 school year!

Mansfield ISD truly is a great place to live, learn, and teach. Our community has a heart for giving back, our students excel in academics and extracurricular activities, and we have highly-qualified teachers and staff who have a deep passion for what they do.

Families are our most important partners because education is a collaborative process. Your engagement and involvement is critical to your child's success in school and our success as a district. Please consider volunteering at your child's campus and engaging with your children about what he or she learned at school. Together, we can ensure your student is set up for success.

The district is also experiencing some exciting growth. This year, we will be welcoming more than 33,000 students. Several of our campuses are undergoing necessary renovations to continue to foster the most safe and effective learning environment for all students. We are expected to exceed 34,000 students by 2017. Because of this, additional schools will be needed to meet the projected student growth. A bond committee is being formed at this time to further review the needs and make a recommendation to the Board for a possible bond election in 2017.

By aspiring to high academic standards, fostering a community built on mutual support and excellence, delivering innovative educational opportunities, and cultivating productive, lifelong learners, MISD can ensure educational and personal success for our students.

Thank you for doing your part in making MISD a destination district. We look forward to a year filled with stories of great accomplishments.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jim Vaszauskas
Superintendent of Schools
