February has been a great month of achievements for our students. We had plenty of athletes participate in National Signing Day, two of our academic teams will be competing at state, and a group of our Fine Arts students made it to the state-level of performances. Mark Your Calendars for Multicultural Fest 2015 

Mansfield ISD is inviting the whole community to take part in our third annual Multicultural Fest. It will be a day of activities, games, food, student showcases, performances, and other events to celebrate all cultures.
(Did we mention that admission is absolutely free?)

The festival will be held on February 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Center for the Performing Arts (1110 West Debbie Lane, Mansfield, TX)  Check out the pictures from last year �
Black History Month Programs & Observances
 
February is Black History Month, an annual celebration and recognition of the contributions of African-Americans throughout history. Many campuses around Mansfield ISD will be honoring the achievements of African-Americans through special activities, performances, and book readings.

Over 40 Athletes Participate in National Signing Day

More than 40 Mansfield ISD student-athletes took part in National Signing Day. It is the first day a high school senior can sign a binding National Letter of Intent for college football, basketball, field hockey, soccer, track & field, and cross country.

Two Academic Decathlon Teams Advance to State

MISD students excel on the field and in the classroom. The Academic Decathlon (AcDec) teams from Summit High School and Legacy High School achieved great honors at a recent regional tournament and are now gearing up for the state competition that starts on February 26.

 

Summit's AcDec team captured its fifth consecutive regional championship. The team now ranks 11th in the state of Texas in the medium school category. Legacy's team ranks 18th in the state of Texas in the medium school category.

34 Fine Arts Students Participate in All-State Performances

A select group of Mansfield ISD Fine Arts high school students showcased their talents at all-state performances during the Texas Music Educators Association's annual convention from February 11 through February 14.
 

The four-day convention had approximately 26,000 people in attendance with opportunities for professional development, inspiration, and networking.

Meet the 2015 District Spelling Bee Champ

"Malediction" was the word that made Jeremy Pham, from Coble Middle School, the winner of MISD's District Spelling Bee.

 

The seventh grader said he prepared for the February 13 competition by studying for hours after every school day.

  • Demolition on the old Glenn Harmon Elementary School has begun for the construction of the school's fully-renovated building. Read more about the construction timeline �
     
  • 30 of the most-improved students at T.A. Howard Middle School received free bikes, courtesy of Boom 94.5 DFW Radio and the attorneys at The Law Firm of Godsey Martin. The school's motto is: "Today, I will improve." View the video �

  • Students at the Alternative Education Center (AEC) raised money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. With the different events they held, the students raised more than $1,500!
     
  • Children and staff at Daulton Elementary School held a jump rope drive to help fight childhood obesity. They donated all the jump ropes to the Linda Nix Family Caring Place Clinic.
     
  • Legacy High School boys are region champions in swimming. The girls came in third place. Altogether, nine swimmers are advancing to state.
     
  • The Lake Ridge High School girls are region champs in swimming. The boys came in third place. Altogether, seven swimmers are advancing to state.
