iPad Initiative Named Apple Distinguished Program
The Mansfield ISD "Power Up!" Program has been recognized as an Apple Distinguished Program for 2014 - 2016 for its groundbreaking use of innovative and inspiring teaching methods. The district's program launched in the fall semester of 2012 with the distribution of over 10,000 iPads to MISD high school teachers and students.

The Apple Distinguished Program designation is reserved for programs that meet criteria for innovation, leadership, and educational excellence, and demonstrate a clear vision of exemplary learning environments.

The selection of Mansfield ISD "Power Up!" as an Apple Distinguished Program highlights our success as an innovative and compelling learning environment that engages students and provides tangible experience of academic accomplishment.  More details about the award »
Middle School Students to Receive iPads Soon

Speaking of our iPad initiative, Mansfield ISD is preparing to expand its "Power Up!" Program by distributing 5,000 iPads to students and teachers in each of our six middle schools.

It's all part of a district initiative to create an innovative and engaging learning environment.

The use of iPads is not required in the classroom, but is encouraged to promote interactivity and technical knowledge. More details about the iPad deployment »
Two New Elementary Schools Now Open

Students and staff at J.L. Boren and Alice Ponder Elementary schools started the new year in brand new, state-of-the-art buildings. The schools, which were originally built in 1979 and 1967, respectively, underwent a much needed upgrade.

The first half of the school year was spent in temporary locations for Bonder and Ponder students and staff while their new schools were being built.

The new school buildings will be dedicated on February 1, 2015 at their new locations (Boren at 3:45 p.m. and Ponder at 2 p.m.).

Boren and Ponder are the first of five elementary schools being replaced as part of a bond package that voters approved in 2011 to update the district's oldest schools. The next school in line for renovation is Glenn Harmon Elementary. Students and staff are currently housed in Judy K. Miller Elementary School while the construction is in progress. Showing Appreciation to Our School Board Trustees

January is School Board Recognition Month, and Mansfield ISD is joining several school districts across the state to thank the dedicated trustees who volunteer their time, energy, and counsel to serve their school district.

The Mansfield ISD School Board is a vital link between the community and the classroom. Not only do they set the vision and policies for the district, MISD board members also oversee an annual budget of $253,361,980 for 33,459 students, more than 4,000 employees, and 42 schools.

The board members received their formal recognition from the District at the Tuesday, January 20, 2015 Regular Board Meeting. Individual school campuses also showed their gratitude. More details about School Board Recognition »
