Two New Elementary Schools Now Open
Students and staff at J.L. Boren and Alice Ponder Elementary schools started the new year in brand new, state-of-the-art buildings. The schools, which were originally built in 1979 and 1967, respectively, underwent a much needed upgrade.
The first half of the school year was spent in temporary locations for Bonder and Ponder students and staff while their new schools were being built.
The new school buildings will be dedicated on February 1, 2015 at their new locations (Boren at 3:45 p.m. and Ponder at 2 p.m.).
Boren and Ponder are the first of five elementary schools being replaced as part of a bond package that voters approved in 2011 to update the district's oldest schools. The next school in line for renovation is Glenn Harmon Elementary. Students and staff are currently housed in Judy K. Miller Elementary School while the construction is in progress. Showing Appreciation to Our School Board Trustees
January is School Board Recognition Month, and Mansfield ISD is joining several school districts across the state to thank the dedicated trustees who volunteer their time, energy, and counsel to serve their school district.
The Mansfield ISD School Board is a vital link between the community and the classroom. Not only do they set the vision and policies for the district, MISD board members also oversee an annual budget of $253,361,980 for 33,459 students, more than 4,000 employees, and 42 schools.
The board members received their formal recognition from the District at the Tuesday, January 20, 2015 Regular Board Meeting. Individual school campuses also showed their gratitude. More details about School Board Recognition »
