There's a chill in the air. The heat is (hopefully) now gone for a while. It's time once again to get you caught up on some recent news and upcoming events in the district. Sorry for the delay, we wanted to make sure we had updates on some of the latest news that occurred this week. As always, thanks for reading the Messenger, your Mansfield ISD newsletter.

Lake Ridge HS Band
Congratulations to the Lake Ridge High School Band for placing 10th in Conference 4A Finals at the UIL State Marching Contest. (As in 10th in the state of Texas!)

Congratulations also to all five Mansfield ISD high school bands for receiving first division ratings at the Region marching contest.

All three of our 4A bands (Summit, Legacy and Lake Ridge) advanced out of the preliminary phase of competition at the Area contest.

Mansfield Lake Ridge High School advanced to the 4A state marching contest that took place in San Antonio on Tuesday, November 5. Lake Ridge HS has been open for only two years and this is the first year the band was eligible to compete and continue on to the next level.
Japanese Ministry of Education Visit
Technology and Communications & Marketing

Japanese Ministry of Education

On Monday, November 4, 2013, Mansfield ISD hosted a delegation of teachers representing the Japanese Ministry of Education.

The tour included time at Timberview High School to highlight the iPad program integration as well as Mary Orr Intermediate for a robotics demonstration. The visit concluded at Savvy's Bistro inside Ben Barber Career Tech Academy for lunch and a technology question and answer session with administrators.

The Ministry of Education in Japan conducts annual trips for selected teachers and guests to learn about new technologies and how schools implement them in different countries. Those teachers then report back to their various schools/districts about what they've learned.

Special thanks to Timberview High, Orr Intermediate, and Savvy's Bistro students and teachers for welcoming teachers and providing excellent demonstrations.
