Wanted: Your Feedback on Programs and Leadership

misdtorchThe Mansfield ISD School Board is seeking observations and suggestions from a variety of stakeholders within the district community to help form a leadership profile for the next superintendent.  

  

There are a couple of ways you can share your feedback: 

 

Community Survey: Share your thoughts on programs and initiatives that the district should "Keep/Start/Stop," and identify leadership qualities that are most important to you for the next superintendent. The survey will close Friday, May 3.

 

Community Forums:  Join the conversation and contribute your feedback to the developing district leadership profile by attending one of the community forums next week. View the details here

The Mansfield ISD website received a digital makeover last week to bring district and department-level pages up to the same design and management standards as the campus websites.    

 

A Website Redesign Committee was established and worked together to identify aspects of the website that worked well in addition to things that needed improvement.

Impact Award: Career Prep Teacher Connects Students with Internships

Congratulations to the most recent Mansfield ISD Impact Award winner, Melanie Stillings! As the Career Prep teacher at Ben Barber Career Tech Academy, Stillings works to prepare students for the real world by connecting them with internships in the local business community.

Awards & Recognitions

Teachers of the Year were selected at each school in the Mansfield ISD. From those, a committee selected three finalists for elementary and three from the secondary (intermediate, middle and high) schools. See the complete list of campus Teachers of the Year and Finalists for District Teachers of the Year.

UIL Middle School Choir - Mansfield ISD congratulates the middle school choir students and directors on their recent success at the UIL Middle School Choir Concert and Sight Reading Contest.

Elementary Robotics Teams Compete at State - Congratulations to the Mary Jo Sheppard Elementary Colts Robotics and Willie Brown Elementary Eagles Robotics teams that qualified for and competed at the Annual State Robotics Competition hosted by the Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA). Read on.

Mansfield High School Speech Team is heading to Nationals! The students competed on Saturday, April 6 at Plano West Senior High and were very successful with Aldean Pearson II placing First in Original Oratory and second in Dramatic Interpretation, he will compete in dramatic at Nationals, Daniel George placing third in Original Oratory and Olivia Soliz placing third in Humorous Interpretation.

On Friday, April 19, two athletes from the Mansfield ISD All Stars Special Olympics team received awards at the opening ceremony for Area 11. Raeka Phelps was named the Female Athlete of the Year and Justin May was named Unified Partner of the Year.

V.A.S.E. State Awards - 10 Legacy High School students competed at the State Qualifying Event for the Visual Arts Scholastic Event (V.A.S.E.) in Bryan, TX.  Earning Superior Gold Medals were:

Donations to West, TX
Help for a Hurting a Community

MISD Council of PTA coordinated with Starlette Gerik, Linda Jobe Middle School Teacher, to collect school supplies for West.

 

Volunteers met at Clothes Closet and they boxed up school supplies to share with the students and teachers in West. Boxes of file folders, post-It notes, staples, etc. were gathered. Jobe Middle School collected some supplies for West. 


Legacy High School Student Council collected gift cards at the school reception desk for relief efforts in West.

Carol Holt Elementary students and staff collected monetary and item donations for the West community. (See photo below.)

Student Services & Campus Support

For the 2013 - 2014 school year we will begin taking POR's (as utility bills) in May. The bill must be an up to date bill. For any proof of residency or enrollment and registration questions, please contact Student Services and Campus Support at 817-299-6360. 

Summer School, Testing and Programs

The Mansfield ISD will offer summer school, testing and programs for grades Pre-K through high school. Get details, dates, times, fee schedule and much more. Read on...

Rising Stars Discovery Camp (June 17-27, M-Th, 8-11 a.m.)  

Rising Stars Discovery Camp is a fun, exciting introduction to just a few of the unique courses offered at Ben Barber Career and Technology Academy. This summer program is available exclusively to Mansfield ISD students entering 5th, 6th, and 7th grades in the 2013-14 school year. Get details and registration info.   

  

Summer Science Camp (June 17-21, M-F, 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.) Gifted/Talented Specialists from across the district have come together to create an engaging, hands-on science curriculum with an in-depth study of water. MISD students who have completed grades K-3 are eligible for science camp.   Get details and registration info.  

PSAT/SAT/ACT Summer Institute 

Students who are college bound and who have completed the 8th grade are encouraged to attend PSAT/SAT/ACT Summer institute. The institute is three weeks of preparation for college entrance exams. Get details and registration info.

Athletics: The Athletics Department announces a Hall of Honor to recognize the efforts and contributions of former student-athletes, coaches/athletic administrators, teams, and distinguished volunteers who have brought honor and excellence to MISD.
