"Sometimes luck is with you, and sometimes not, but the important things is to take the dare. Those who climb mountains or raft rivers understand this." - David Brower

We've take a few dares. Two weeks ago we hiked in the jungles of the Dominican Republic to this Cascada El Limón. It was a glorious (and refreshing) swim in and behind the falls!

Two years ago went rafting on the Kenai River in Alaska and marveled at the beauty!

Bill has take a professional dare.
He was recently elected President Elect of the Financial Planning Association of Massachusetts and will serve as president in 2017. Also he recently had an article published in the national industry publication the Journal of Financial Planning. He's co-leading a tax planning Knowledge Circle.

New Year's intentions. Have you made any? Do you need to recommit already? We bet you have at least one that some how relates to your financial life. Can we help you achieve that goal this year? If so, please reach out.

Cheers,

Impact Investing

This fall I attended an investment conference at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. The place is massive - five hectares of contiguous exhibition space! You are thinking, how big is a hectare? It's about the size of a football field.

I wandered through hectares or football fields of exhibitor booths, trying to avoid making eye contact and remaining ever vigilant to the flashy tchotchke offerings from the vendors. My stamina was pretty low for one more conversation with a vendor about the "latest and greatest" mutual fund or investment strategy, no matter the quality appeal of the giveaway.

But then an exhibitor from Ave Maria Mutual Funds caught my attention. He was extolling the virtues of following investment criteria based on moral principals. Now this sounded different and interesting!

He said, "Equal emphasis is placed on investment performance and moral criteria. Shareholders don't have to sacrifice financial performance potential because of their beliefs. Every stock and bond we consider must first meet the strict financial criteria set by our experienced team of portfolio managers. If a security seems attractively priced to our analysts, then the company is screened based on the moral criteria." He had my attention!

Time to Share. Create a Buzz.

Polished Tennessee marble, Italian travetine stone, important tiles from Holland and an inlaid ceiling with beautiful murals adorn the Stadium Theatre, which was built in 1926 in Woonsocket, RI. It is one of the few remaining examples of the majestic Vaudeville Theatre era in operation today. Since being restored in 2001, the Stadium Theatre has developed into a community center where famed international artists like Liza Minnelli, Cher and George Winston grace the same stage as community arts organizations such as community theatre, dance and music groups. It is the Stadium Theatre's mission to offer the widest variety of high caliber, live entertainment to patrons at family-affordable prices. It's worth the trip!
