Sound, visionary stewardship
Welcome
We recently traveled to Palm Desert, CA. It was our first trip to this area and we were pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the desert can be! We traveled the Pines to Palms Scenic Byway up to a wonderful little town called Idyllwild. As much as we enjoyed the sites on our one free day there, the highlight of our trip was our Date with Destiny. For the past 11 months we have been planning on attending this amazing seminar with Tony Robbins: an entrepreneur, author & peak performance strategist. This was a six-day journey where we learn to become the architect of our future. You gain a clear and deep understanding of why you think, feel and behave the way you do. You learn to take control of the forces that drive you. It was the most amazing experience. One of the highlights of the whole trip was when I got to meet Tony on day two when my number was chosen out of more than 2000 people to come up and spin "the wheel". I danced, answered some "quiz" questions and won an awesome prize--a ticket to an upcoming seminar called Unleash the Power Within. If you ever have the chance to connect with this man--do it! He is very insightful and gifted. As 2013 comes to a close, have a Merry Christmas with your family and friends. Slow down and remember the "reason for the season". Reflect on what type of year it's been and make some commitments as to what will happen for you in 2014. Make it your best year yet! We'd love to hear what you are planning to accomplish. Drop us a line to share. Cheers, p.s. We are proud to be a Registered Investment Advisor. Learn more about the benefits of working with an RIA. Have you connect with us yet? |

What you need to know before Dec. 31
I recently attended the Financial Planning Association Chapter Leaders Conference in Denver. The Massachusetts chapter was one of 95 from across the country that met to strategize about how our industry continues to offer the financial planning profession the best possible education and guidance for business success. Most importantly, we strategized on how members could give the best service and advice to our clients and communities. Proudly, the Massachusetts chapter received a special recognition award for its pro-bono efforts, especially with military families and our work with Dana Farber.
As I networked with professionals from across the county, there were a few reoccurring themes of my conversations, such as the impact of new laws and year-end planning strategies, plus a couple of Red Sox championship congratulations.
This year brought us the American Taxpayer Relief Act (ATRA), which was signed into law in January, the Obamacare rollout (changing by the minute), the Supreme Court's decision on same-sex marriage and many other new IRS rules. Now, Congress is "threatening" us with comprehensive tax reform for 2014.
