A NOTE FROM DR. BEEKLEY

Thank you for an outstanding year. So much was accomplished this year, and it could not have been done without the support of everyone in the CES community. I am very proud of our students. They excel in the academics, the arts, and as kind, caring children. At our last Town Meeting today, our students enjoyed hearing about the accomplishments/highlights of each grade level. The slide show is always the "big finish." Please enjoy our end of the year slide show by clicking on this link: http://r4-devos.reg4.k12.ct.us/show?video=3d7a33bdb350&apg=8c3460e5 To view the slide show, you will need to enter the password ces.

It is an honor to serve as the principal of Chester Elementary School. I wish to express my sincere thanks to the Chester Elementary School community for all of the support and kindness shown to me this year. I thoroughly enjoyed the year with you, and I am looking forward to next year.

Have a great summer!

Joanne D. Beekley, Ed.D.

FIELD DAY FUN

Chester Elementary Students had a wonderful Field Day at Camp Hazen on June 13th. The weather was a bit windy, but there was plenty of sunshine and fun!

NEWS FROM THE CES LIBRARY

Summer is upon us, and it is time for summer reading! It is a time for reading for enjoyment or personal interest on those long lazy days. Governor Malloy has issued his Summer Reading Challenge to all Connecticut students. We also encourage students entering grades two through four to read the Elementary Nutmeg Book Award nominees for 2017 and students entering grades four through six to read the Intermediate Nutmeg Book Award nominees.

All students received a summer reading list for their grade level, a reading log, and flyers with the appropriate Nutmeg Book Award nominees. We have posted downloadable copies of all the reading lists and the reading log on the school website.  Copies of the reading lists and reading log are also available at the Chester Public Library.  Have a wonderful summer!
