A NOTE FROM DR. BEEKLEY

We celebrate American Education Week from November 16-20, 2015. The theme for 2015 is "Great Public Schools: A Basic Right and Our Responsibility." It is a time to recognize the educators and school staff who keep our children safe and healthy, as well as help them achieve. We must remember to honor the school bus drivers, cafeteria workers, paraeducators, substitute educators, school secretaries, custodians and other education support professionals who positively impact our school community. Education support professionals are oftentimes the first people that our schoolchildren encounter on a daily basis. They are the people who drive our children to school, help them cross the street, provide them a nutritious meal and keep their school building clean and safe. Education support professionals are the unsung heroes.

American Education Week is about appreciating and acknowledging the importance of education and all who do that work. A better tomorrow lies in the hands of today's children. Only through education, will our children be able to handle the challenges before them.

Joanne D. Beekley, Ed.D.

CES CELEBRATES VETERANS DAY

We celebrated our veterans on November 11th with a school-wide program. As part of the program, we presented the veterans with green light bulbs in honor of the national Greenlight a Vet campaign. The Greenlight a Vet project asks you to light your porch green in support of veterans. Students also presented the veterans with letters written by some of the classes. The program was followed by a reception for the veterans and their family members who joined them for the program. We also enjoyed having veterans visit classrooms to share time with our students.

With temperatures varying each day, please make sure your child is dressed appropriately. Layers are suggested for this time of year as it is cold in the morning and much warmer in the afternoon. We will continue to go out for both morning and afternoon recess if the temperature is above 20 degrees and not raining. Thank you for your cooperation!
