A NOTE FROM DR. BEEKLEY

Dear Chester Elementary School Community,

multi-color-stars.gif
We all have dreams and wishes for our children. We want them to be safe from harm but willing to take a risk and meet new challenges. We want them to be good people who are sensitive to others and stand up for what is right. We want them to be successful learners who realize every bit of their potential.

The Chester Elementary School staff is dedicated to having every student realize his or her potential. I ask that you join us bycommunicating with your child's teacher often, attending meetings at school regarding your child, checking the home/school communication folder each day for notices, supporting your child's efforts to complete homework every night, and sending your child to school rested and ready to learn. Together, we provide our children with the tools to be lifelong learners and successful members of the community. Thank you for being our partners in education!

Reminders
No School on Monday, 9/14 - Rosh Hashanah

Have a terrific weekend!

HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL COMMITTEE MEETING

We Need You to Make it Happen!

Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 7:00 pm - CES Library

Join the Halloween Committee as we brainstorm ideas for this new event in Downtown Chester on Friday, October 30, 2015.

We are taking a little bit of previous events and mixing it with some new to bring you the Halloween Carnival. We will still have a Costume Parade starting from Chesterfields going to the downtown area. Many of the local Main Street Chester Merchants will be giving away treats, and a DJ will be providing music for all the little ghouls and goblins to dance.

At the meeting, we will be looking for teams from each grade to organize running one to two booths at the Carnival. We
will also be looking for people who may not be available that night, but can help in some of the pre-event organization. If you have an interest in participating, learning more, or just have a fun idea to share, please stop by the CES Library next Wednesday at 7 pm.

If you can't make the meeting, but want to volunteer, please contact Lindsey Goergen, lgoergen7911@gmail.com or Kim Stack, kimberly_stack@yahoo.com.

BOX TOPS AND STUDENT BANKING DAY

Thursday, September 17 is Box Tops & Banking Day!

BOX TOPS:  If you've been stockpiling little box tops all summer - the time has come to turn them in!! By next Thursday, please submit any Box Tops or Labels for Education that you have collected. Simply drop them in an envelope or plastic baggie labeled: BOX TOPS - CES PTO and send them in to your child's teacher. The Box Top turn-in day is on the 3rd Thursday of every month.

Remember: Please check to make sure the expiration date has not expired. Also, please neatly trim along the edges of each box top - this saves our revered chairs tons of time (and blisters on their hands)!

BANK DEPOSITS: Students can make deposits on the 3rd Thursday of every month, starting with this September 17th. Deposits are made into a locked box mounted on the brick wall outside the office door. An Essex Savings Bank representative will collect the deposits in the afternoon and mail a deposit receipt home. This is a great, convenient first step toward teaching children to save and spend money responsibly. For more information, contact PTO Chairperson Melissa Hays, mismarz@hotmail.com or Essex Savings Bank Representative, Sarah May, at 860-526-0000.
