Attention Chamber Member
Restaurants
Are you looking for an opportunity to:
- Accentuate your appetizers
- Detail your desserts
- Characterize your catering
- Emphasize your entrees Let us help!
The Chamber of Commerce is working on several events throughout the summer, a few of which will be highlighted by the famous "Taste of Membership"; a buffet style dinner featuring items from our Chamber member restaurants.
The Chamber helps to coordinate different events in an effort to provide promotional opportunities exclusively for Chamber members. You are invited to participate in any or all of the following events by supplying one of your signature menu items to offer VIP treatment for the participants of these events.
For each event you participate in you will receive some reimbursement for part of your cost. These events are not fundraisers for the Chamber but rather a chance for us to showcase, you, our members. In addition, your promotional information such as menus, coupons and brochures can be given to the guests, and your name will be prominently displayed as a co-sponsor of the event.
We appreciate any involvement you wish to have and look forward to hearing from you.
Please contact Sheila at the Chamber at 906-786-2192 or shughes@deltami.org with any questions, or to sign up for one of these great events.

& WLUC TV 6 and Fox UP
The July 9th Delta County Area Commerce Center Business After Hours is undergoing a major one-time overhaul to help celebrate the city of Escanaba's sesquicentennial 150th birthday.
Renamed the Esky 150 Business and Industry After Hours, the event will feature liveentertainment and special door prizes. A major component of this event will be a trade show with a goal of 150 vendors made up of local business, industry and community groups.
The event is scheduled for 5-7 p.m. July 9 at the Ruth Butler Building at the U.P. State Fairgrounds in Escanaba. The get-together will also include the popular Taste of Membership, which will feature Delta County Area Chamber of Commerce member restaurants presenting hors de oeuvres featuring some of their signature dishes. Admission is free and there will be a cash bar. "This is a very special time for Escanaba and all surrounding communities. The commerce center board and staff are proud to celebrate 150 years of success and growth for our area," said Vickie Micheau, commerce center executive director. Business and Industry After Hours will feature several door prizes, including a gas grill from sponsor, DTE Energy. Other sponsors are the Chamber of Commerce, Edward Jones, and WLUC TV6/FOX UP. Kay Johnson is co-chair of the Sesquicentennial Celebration. "This special Business after Hours promises to be lots of fun for everyone who attends, but even much more than that. Our residents work hard and play hard, and this event will help celebrate all of our good work over the decades," Johnson said. The 10-day long sesquicentennial celebration will begin July 5. It will feature many events, including musical concerts, tours, maritime festivals, class reunions, running events, picnics and historical displays. For more information, go to www.esky150.org. |

UPIR Esky 150 Race to Benefit United Way
The Upper Peninsula International Raceway (UPIR) is celebrating Escanaba's Sesquicentennial with a special race to benefit the United Way of Delta County. On Sunday, July 7, 2013 the UP State Fairgrounds will come alive with dirt-slinging racing, featuring 4/6 cylinder cars, street stocks, modifieds and 600/650 junior micro-sprints. Heat laps will total 150 for all classes, and the UPIR is inviting the public to sponsor laps to benefit the United Way of Delta County. For $25, anyone can sponsor a lap (choose a number between 1 and 150 - laps can have multiple sponsors). From each sponsorship, $20 goes to the United Way to support local programs around education, income and health, with the other $5 going to the drivers' purse. Lap sponsors will be recognized on race day signage and websites and also will be entered into a drawing for various donated prizes. The UPIR's goal is to sell a minimum of 150 laps in honor of the Esky 150 celebration. There are several options for purchasing a lap sponsorship: 1. Purchase online through the UP State Fairgrounds website: http://www.upstatefair.org/?laps?search?UPIR 2. Write a check, payable to UPIR, and mail or drop off to the United Way of Delta County, 1100 Ludington St., Suite 300, Escanaba, MI 49829 3. Purchase lap sponsorships at the track on race day, July 7th. The grandstand will open at noon on race day, with races beginning at 1 p.m.. Grandstand admission is $5 (children 10 and under are free). Pit passes are $15 (children under age 5 are not permitted in the pits). The 50/50 drawing that day also will benefit the United Way of Delta County. For more information visit www.upirracing.com or call 786-3736.
